depends on your area i'd think. there's steadfast transport service that picks up students frm northeast area- punggol, sengkang, hougang.

Hi all I would like to ask if the sports CCA take in students who are doing the sport recreationally or they only take those who have trained competitively?

                  Hi all,

Does anyone know if it’s difficult to switch from IP to O Levels track in VS half way through their sec school life? Or is the student expected to transfer to another school? Thank you.

Don't think it difficult, especially if the school thinks that the kid is unable to perform and meet promotion criteria successfully. VS has a set of promotion criteria that all IP students must meet in order to progress. If the kid cannot meet it, the school will support and coach through guidance program, consultation etc first. If the kid still cannot meet it, and/or the parents feel strongly that the kids cannot succeed in IP, they allow, and in fact recommend to move to O level. Usually they are very strict at year 2 promoting to year 3. They feel that if the boy cannot succeed in IP at year 2, then he should move to O level at year 3 to have time to learn O level curriculum, since IP curriculum is very different from O. Moving from end of year 3 IP to O is very risky and the school actually said that some boys may retain another year as they are not confident that he will be able to sit for O comfortably. I have personally heard from DS (he is in VS IP year 4) that a few of his ex-classmates moved to O in year 2 and 3.
Could any current parents tell me what the school hours are like for Victoria? We are considering it as a DSA choice but the distance is a real concern as we live in Serangoon especially if they have a lot of days when they need to stay back. I've seen two extremes as my daughter stays back nearly every day whereas my other son only stays back on CCA days.

                      Bus 135, about an hour.

I was asking more about the school start and finish times 😊
School starts 7.30am, but be in school by 7.20am to be safe. Thursday is late start day at 8.30am, again best to be there by 8.20am. About 2 days a week, DS day ends around 2.35pm without CCA. Another 2 days about 6.30pm due to CCA. Friday ends the earliest at 1.05pm. Been quite consistent from year 1 to now year 4. We stay at YCK area, no straight bus. He takes 3 buses to get to school in the morning, and its less than 1.5hrs. We sometimes drive him to school, and its via expressways. Takes us about 20mins to get to school. VS is really good if you drive as the school is near to the ECP exit, so no problems with queueing to drop off.

Thanks, Mark! That’s good to hear and is certainly an attractive feature of a dual track school. I’m a bit concerned because in CHS (also a dual track school), it seems difficult to switch out to OP as classes are full and there’s a wait list of kids with good results wanting to get in.
