RGS has a compulsory humanities subject which is not E Lit, Geo, History, so I dont think anyone is allowed to take 4 humanities subjects. But in any case, by the time your daughter is sec 3, things may change, too early to think about this now?
Hi, can parents share the rough number of girls who take triple humanities(EL Literature, History and Geography) in RGS, and can anyone with kids taking triple humanities share why did they take triple humanities, and how your daughter is managing with this subject combination? Thanks!
-

Please note that the line in blue is not correct as others have since pointed out. It's strongly discouraged by some schools, but not disallowed by MOE/SEAB. My other comments still stand.
I dun think anyone can take the combination of Lit, History and Geog. All upper sec students need to take some form of social studies (MOE rule). For IP schools, school will repackage it to combine social studies with some other related studies (eg. Social studies with philosophy/economics etc). So if take triple humanities, it would be this social studies-cum-others + 2 humanities subjects (choose from Lit/History/Geog).
Cool nurse\" post_id=\"2000179\" time=\"1603603131\" user_id=\"185329:
Hi, can parents share the rough number of girls who take triple humanities(EL Literature, History and Geography) in RGS, and can anyone with kids taking triple humanities share why did they take triple humanities, and how your daughter is managing with this subject combination? MOE/SEAB does not allow any student to take both Geog and Hist in upper sec and JC. I guess they feel the workload is too heavy, or the overlap is too much? I'm not sure about upper sec now (too long ago), but in JC, \"triple humanities\" is possible, just not with both Geog and Hist. There are other humanities subjects offered like 3rd language (maybe this also applies to upper sec?), Language/Lit in MTs, Lang/Linguistics, China Studies, Art, Music, etc. The offerings may change from time to time, so you don't have to think about it so soon.
My daughter has some friends who took triple humanities at A level. As far as I know, those are the ones who were quite passionate about humanities and were fairly sure that they didn't want to pursue Sciences in their futures, or were quite sure they would do better in a humanities subject than a science subject. Some were humanities programme scholars. But quite a few weren't really so \"humanities\" as they took Econs (borderline humanities subject), with Maths as a contrasting subject. -

This is not true, then and now. If both History and Geography are not allowed to be taken together, then this is a restriction imposed by the school, not by MOE or the exam board. From what I can see, RGS allows Geo + History.
MOE/SEAB does not allow any student to take both Geog and Hist in upper sec -
This was decades ago, but Geog and History was not an unusual combination at O levels during our time. I would be surprised if MOE has moved to disallow it.
Today, it is not uncommon for O level students to read either full Geog or History, and half of the other paired with SS.
Even at A levels, I think it is the JCs that advise strongly against Geog and History taken at H2 levels together, and disallow it based on their assessment - it may not be an MOE rule. In the UK, there are definitely no rules prohibiting students from reading both at the A levels. -

The misunderstanding that History and Geog cannot be taken together might be due to the Humanities Program. Under HP, Literature is compulsory, hence during the upper sec, students from HP have to choose between History and Geog. And since they din take either History or Geog at upper sec level, many continued with taking just History or Geog instead of both.

Sorry, I stand corrected! I was thinking of O levels - and yes, you're right - it could be a school-imposed restriction, but a widespread one. RGS may allow it since they have they have more autonomy. But I think RI does not allow (or strongly discourages) both subjects to be taken together for A levels, and some JCs don't offer those combinations. I just assumed it was MOE/SEAB - my bad. I've made a note in my original post.

You can take Geo and History for O levels then, like back in the 80s.
You can take Geo and History for O levels now.
You do not need special autonomy to let the students take Geo and History for O levels.
If any school does not allow it, it is their own decision — both O level streams and IP. -
I took a pic of the slides fr last yr’s briefing. If there is no chg, it is poss to take 3 hum. 3 hum must inc i&a. Yr other 2 hum can be hist+lit, hist+geo, or lit+geo.

The school starting time is always 7.30am except Thursday’s where it’s late day (for normal years) but since there’s COVID there’s no more late day so everyday will start at 7.30am. Dismissal timings are not confirmed and varies with timetable, usually around 1.30, but sometimes it’s 12.30 or 2.30
Magic Unicorn\" post_id=\"1998628\" time=\"1602574880\" user_id=\"107611:
Hi, may I know what’s the school starting And dismissal timing from mon - Friday ?
