May I know why you can’t apply to read both Biology and Biotech?

        Let’s continue discussion, for

2020 S1 SST students (born 2007), who intend to take up S3 this unique subject combination, comprising

        1) Pure Chem (compulsory)
        2) Pure Physics
        3) Bio-technology

        4) plus the balance of 5 subjects, that constitute Total 8 subjects maximum allowed inside SST. Plus your 3rd foreign language (German / Spanish / French / Japanese), for those who are taking it, will make it Total 9 subjects, maximum.

Why do we want to discuss this particular S3 subject combination?

        Because

SST do not permit Triple Pure Sciences, hence above combination is by far somewhat the closest to Triple Pure Sciences combination, u can take.

Suppose in Year 2023, after sat for O-level National exam,
lets say there are two SST students (X and Y), whose grades are identical, below.
Both also target to enter into an IP JC (Science stream), not Arts stream.
They come from SST, well groomed in handling hands on Science projects during Sec 1 to 4, love Science a lot ! Zero interest in Arts stream

        1) student X (girl)

        Physics (O-level) : B4

        Bio-technology (O-level) : A2

        For student X -
X do better in subject Physics or in Bio-tech ?

        Answer :
        Bio-tech (A2) vs. Physics (B4)

Between these two subjects, X did better in Bio-tech.
        Moreover,
X is more interested in pursuing A-level Bio. So, never mind, X can forget about her poor Physics (B4).

        But, question is,
can student X take H2 Biology
(A-level) inside the IP-JC, even though scored an A2 ?

Ah, this one, is a tricky question-mark.
Best to confirm with that respective, receiving-admission entry IP-JC (Science HOD) first

        because

Bio-technology, is very different from Pure Biology, in O-level exam content scope. Don’t assume that they will be treated the same way. Bio-tech exam scope and coverage, is definitely Not the same as Pure Bio, very different !

        2) student Y (boy)
also scored the same identical grades as X.

But Y is interested in taking H2 Physics, because targeting for some University Engineering course, so can drop Bio-tech. Inside SST, there are many boys, fewer girls. Boys tend to choose H2 Physics, when move up to Junior Colleges (the Non-poly route)

        Question is,
        his Physics is B4.

According to subject combination rules stated on the IP-JC school website which Y is interested in, what did IP-JC state ?

        minimum,
must score at least a B3, before students are allowed to take H2 Physics. Means Y cannot do H2 Physics. But Y is not interested in doing H1 Physics, so how ?

        unless…
Y don’t mind joining some Non-IP JC, whereby armed with a B4, they still allow him to do H2 Physics. But if Y is not interested in studying in a Non-IP JC, how ?

        For A-level, IP-JCs include -

(Hwa Chong, Dunman High, River Valley High, Eunoia, Victoria, Temasek, National, RI) JC

Yes, you can apply for Chemistry, Biology and Biotech as a combination.
However, both Biology and Biotech is content heavy, lots of memorization.

Are you a current SST student, or a 2020 post PSLE student entering into SST Sec 1 next year (2021), via DSA offer acceptance ?

If you are a current SST student, you should be able to have access and can check all
2020 Sec 3 classes' time table schedule.

Out of Total number of Sec 3 classes available , how many classes have the subject combination, containing this word \"Computing\" ?

Is it one, two or more classes opened, to teach Computing ? From there, you can tell whether Computing is popular or not, because

at end of Sec 2 year-end streaming, students will be informed which Sec 3 class subject combination, they have been allocated into. So, do check the various classes ' time table, assess whether Computing is popular or not

              Computing, another Applied Science

              https://www.sst.edu.sg/programmes/applied-subjects/

              ===========================

Computing is a subject, one can always learn outside on your own, if you wish. There are plenty of enrichment classes that teach Computing.
E.g. Python computer programming, even at Upper primary P5 & P6
Yes, you can readily find several enrichment centre that offer this type of training. In fact, some parents, when their children are in P3 or P4, they already started sending their children to learn programming, hoping that by the time they reach P6, can apply DSA via \"STEM\" (Science / Technology / Engineering / Mathematics) domain, into SST or NUS High or into any other IP-JCs, etc.

Since \"Computing\" is easily available outside,
usually when come to choosing Sec 3 subject combination, it is advisable to choose those subjects that are not easy to come by,

              ie.
not easily found available in commercial enrichment training centre.

However, both Biology and Biotech is content heavy, lots of memorization.

                        Refering to
this year (2020) current Sec 3 subject combination time table schedule,

are there sufficient number of students interested enough, gathered together to pursue this unique (Pure Bio & Bio-tech) ?

                        Total,
                        how many classes were opened

for such subject combination ? Zero, one or more than one class ?

                        Applying, is one thing.
Whether can take off or not, is another matter.

For a class to be able to take off successfully, there need to be

                        1) enough minimum number of students required to apply for this same subject combination,

                        2) teaching resources in terms of presence of staff availability, and in the subject domain expertise imparted, need to be allocated & assigned to teach the class,

                        3) teaching facilities, also need to be present
