students will take 8 subjects only
heard that most boys don't like Literature. Besides, there are a lot of more boys than girls studying inside SST.
So,
does it mean that when come to choosing Upper Sec 3 subject combination, since SST imposed the condition, allow maximum only 8 subjects including the compulsory Applied Science amongst these 8 subjects, which already consumed or taken up one subject space (out of maximum 8),
is it true that
Sec 3 students can only choose
1) either
Pure (Core) History or
Pure (Core) Geography,
but Not Pure (Core) Literature ?
And / Or
2) either
Elective History or
Elective Geography,
but Not
Elective Literature ?
==========================
Then,
what if the SST girls, being stronger in languages, still prefer to take
either
Elective Literature or
Pure (Core) Literature,
so how ?
(From several past Psle past batches' results, often, the girls are stronger than boys, when come to languages)
english, mother tongue, double math (e and a), double pure science (phy/bio with compulsory chemistry), one applied subject, one combined humanities (elective geography/history with compulsory social studies).
exception will be for engineering+ students. instead of taking double pure science, engineering+ students must take pure physics, and instead of taking one applied subject, they must take both electronics and computing. only choice left for these students will be which combined humanities subject they would like to take. -

SINGAPORE - The Singapore School of Science and Technology (SST) and Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP) will be launching a pilot Integrated Diploma Programme (IDP).
It is for students who are strong academically and display an aptitude in applied Science, technology, engineering, as well as mathematics (Stem). They must also want to pursue a polytechnic education.
Under the programme, students from SST will progress directly to a Stem course in NP without having to sit for the O-Levels. -

This is an interesting new Integrated programme Diploma, joint venture with Ngee Ann Polytechnic, attempting to lure & attract many Top Psle students under new AL Psle system to SST

Is this new exciting Diploma, a thru train 6 years or 7 years programme ?
If is 6 years -
means similar to A-level students, because all of us take 6 long years after Psle , reach 18 years old to complete A level
If is a 7-year programme immediately right after Psle ,
then no difference to those current O-level students who entered Polytechnic, studied for another extra 3 more years to get their respective Diploma, after graduated with their O-level cert.
One key question to clarify is,
what happen,
AFTER SST students have finished & completed this newly launched Integrated Diploma ?
Is there a direct auto feed path, into either local NUS or NTU, similar to how NUS High is currently functioning
Or
still must compete with the big bunch of
graduated Junior College A-level students plus
graduated IB students from (ACSI / SJI),
to enter into
local NUS / NTU limited seats allocation ? -

i think the details are still being finalised by both sst and np. i do hope it is a six year program, and that all diplomas related to stem can be chosen by students.

Hi, I was wondering if anyone got email from sst regarding admin matters (booklist, purchase of textbooks, uniform, macbook). So far I haven’t received any. Also, does anyone know when will we receive the email?
I am also wondering what third language does sst offer cos my child is eligible for it.
Lastly, do you think going for third language or higher chinese is better? Both have 2 points concession for o level if pass. -

Just as a warning, the bookshop is not very organised or responsive so be prepared. If you place an order online, they don't send an email confirmation or give you a delivery date.
