Hi I’m new here. My DS has a score of 254 with no HMT. We would like to put our school choices as follows :

Acsi(IB)
NJC
Acsi (O level)
SJI (IB)
Rvhs
Nan Hua

Can advise if we have a chance for first choice?

Not a high chance, to be honest. But if u dun try, u never know. The 2nd to 6th options are there anyway if your \"dream\" 1st choice doesn't succeed.

Thks. So choices 2-6 safe for our case? Seems like we have a lot more 250+ scorers this year. My DS’ class has at least 4 including him with same score.

What if we put NJC as first choice and eliminate ACSI (IB) which we are 2 pts off, will we stand a better chance?
Putting njc as first choice versus second choice doesn't give u a better chance. Let's say your child is the 1500th ranked student. After posting the 1499th student to a school, the computer will look at ur child's 1st choice. If there's still vacancy, he goes there. If no vacancy, the computer looks at his second choice n makes the posting decision, so on and so forth.

Hi all,

Would like to ask your opinions. My DS scores 270 and RI is his dream school. However, we are residing in Jurong and are concern with the travelling time. SAP schools are not possible as he doesn’t take Chinese. And there is a lack of good schools near us. Would you consider RI if you’re in our position? Thank you.

Go for it! My eldest is in RI and we are staying in the Far East 😂 but my DS loves the school so much. He travels about 1 hr plus to and from school each way, but he does it willingly. Contrary to myths about elitism and selfishness, I find RI students to be very supportive and helpful. My DS friends will share notes, help one another and even go in groups to consult the Teachers when in doubt. The parents support group is excellent too! Parents share information readily too. There’s a big batch chat with more than 250 parents inside.

DS is very glad that he chose RI. Teachers are very dedicated and they treat the students as young adults. No regrets choosing this school for us.

Good luck to you!

Hi wizdon, congratulations on your son’s excellent results!

I second what mamamiya says about RI. The students, teachers and parents are truly supportive. If it is indeed your son’s dream school, he won’t mind the travelling.

But if you wish to consider other options that are closer to your home, you may like to check out ACSI’s IB program. All the best!

Sorry, but got to disagree. We know firsthand of a recent case. Local nationality and T-score exactly at the cut-off of stream A (Choice 1 in ranked order). She was placed into stream B instead (Choice 2 in ranked order).

That' what exactly I mentioned. If comes to the COP, the vacancies is less than the SG citizen applicants, then the system will draw lots among the citizens. Some of the unlucky citizens will not be successful.

Sorry, not by luck of draw at play here. [Refer to the official news link provided by the other contributor]. => It's determined by the decimals.... The last seat goes to the ranked highest.
PSLE changes: Choice of school and balloting may play bigger role https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/education/choice-of-school-and-balloting-may-play-bigger-role?&utm_source=whatsapp&utm_medium=social-media&utm_campaign=addtoany

Hi

My son got 253 and Possible to get to RI or NJC. Can you please help to advise, how to list for S1 Posting?
Thanks a lot for your support.

Sorry, unlikely to get into RI

Last year, NJC COP was 254.
You can try NJC plus a few more

- Catholic High (IP) and O level

- Victoria (IP) and O-level
:thankyou:
- Temasek JC

- maybe River Valley High

- some Top O level schools

:thankyou: Thanks for you advise. Do I try for my son (Score 253 ) - IB school or IP as suggested above ?
Thanks a lot in advance for your support.

My son scored 260+1.

Should I let him try for RI, will he struggle as his score is so near to COP with most other boys doing better than him?

He is eligible to take HCL, does RI offer HCL? If he goes for the IP programme, does this also mean he takes HCL for the first 4 years only?

Many thanks!
