Hi, I would like to know if there is a forum on 3rd language? Would like to find out more as I've heard a lot dropped out after 1,2 years. Not sure if its advisable to take in today's context.

Refer link below.

Yes, many dropped after 1 or 2 years. But there are some who continue until Sec 4 or JC2.

Hi Coast,

Thank you. πŸ˜‰
You are welcome.

I would say just let your child decide whether to take the 3rd language. You can help by providing more info so that your child can make an informed decision.

Even if they dropped the 3rd Language halfway, they would have benefited from learning a new language and who knows, the foundation will be useful should they decide to pick up the language again at a later stage. Or good enough to have simple conversations with the natives. πŸ˜„

A factor to consider is the time required to travel from your child’s secondary school to MOELC centre and the time it takes to go home from the centre.

Congrats to your child for doing well in PSLE and all the best! :rahrah:

Unfortunately, it is a matter of supply and demand.

I really hope that cut off are not moving up this year...
Someone reported in another thread that
the Top 10 % cut-off has risen from

250 or 251 (in 2019 Psle cohort)

to

252 (for 2020 PSLE cohort)

This being the case,
high likelyhood for COP to rise, this year, won't remain the same

Hi, would like to ger the advice for the choices we have. DS has 246+2

1. RV 253 (DS insists to put this though we have told him chance is almost NIL.)
2. CHS O 249
3. Nanhua 246
4. Bt panjang 244
5. Chung Cheng yishun 241
6. Yishun town 239

Is it safe enough to put yishun town as #6? Or I should another one which has even lower COP? Any other suggestions of school in west/north west area?
Hi all, would any of the parents here have info on approx no of vacancies in RGS n MGS ib program? TIA

RGS should be the cohort size while MGS I think is only 2 classes

https://www.mgs.moe.edu.sg/secondary/others/key-programmes/sophia-blackmore-academy/faq

I think the MGS IP is separate from SBA. I don't know the size of the MGS IP. However, I think some of the other split IP/O schools (SNGS, SCGS) are 4 - 6 IP classes.

MGS: Yes, MGS IP (IB) is separate from SBA (Eventually, also leading to O-level at 4th year.)
Based on 2019 intake, there should be at least 3 IB classes & at least 2 SBA classes. There are X number of remaining classes (O-level at 4th year.)
:thankyou: @synthesis77

looks good, might end up in Bukit Panjang or Chung Cheng Yishun. Can also consider Swiss Cottage (242)

One way is to tell everyone that the COP of your dream school is going way up and say no point wasting their choices. Then you put this school as your first choice and ta-da, fewer students choose this school and then you get in! πŸ¦†

Wow, such evil thots. I have no child in P6 this year, just to be clear. πŸ˜„ πŸ˜„
