All About Singapore Birth Rates

hehe,sori..always forget, itz rooster,nt chicken... :lol:I think snake is the least favourable.
rat: people associate with mickey mouse.
chicken: should be rooster
both pig & rooster are farm animals, useful to humans.
so rat = mickey mouse gd anot? rooster is useful coz itz supposed to wake ppl up in the morning...bt i mean really...these r more popular yrs to give birth isit? then we shud expect these popular yrs to have more babies?in turn, more competition for p1 registration..? -
I think dragon, pig, horse, monkey, rabbit are popular years. Snake, rat, rooster, goat, tiger not so popular. The rest (dog,ox) maybe average. 2007 was a golden pig year, hence a surge in birth rate.
But then it doesnt really matter nowadays because there are so many PRs joining the competition. Tough life. -

Year 2004 is the Monkey Year.
erm...monkey less favourable?? hw abt chicken/ pig/ rat?
Heard older days, tiger year is less popular for having kids. -

Hi,Yes..we would assume that having a declining birth rate in the past few years, the \"competition\" for places will be relatively lower. But as I mentioned in another post, though birth rate for 2001 is higher than 2002, MOE is expecting a higher number of registration for P1 this year compared to last year. I assume this additional numbers are children of PRs & foreigners, who were not born in Singapore. Children of PRs could register in any of the earlier phases, but children of foreigners will have to register under phase 3.
Hmm....if MOE is expecting a higher number of kids registering for P1, then why are (a number of) schools reducing the number of classes this year?
Just want to share that there are also children who are Singapore Citizens who are born overseas. I didn't read the pdf file but if that pdf file shows (Singapore Citizen) life births in Singapore, then the numbers will not include Singapore Citizen babies born outside Singapore. And yes, this can happen because babies born outside Singapore, to Singaporean parents, are also Singapore Citizens.

IS IT TRUE THIS YEAR NOT MANY CHILDREN ENROLING BECAUSE OF LOW BIRTH RATE?
MY DAUGHTER IS ENROLING THIS YEAR, MAYBE I CAN TRY SCHOOLS OUTSIDE THE 1 KM RADIUS.
