DH got his 1st doze yday and besides having headaches, dizziness, numbness on his arm, he’s got chills in the tonight.

News just announced that a 23-year-old WP migrant worker tested positive for covid after receiving both doses of Covid-19 vaccination showing that it is possible for vaccinated individuals to get infected. We’ve to keep vigilant & continue with careful hygiene practices, wearing of our masks and practice social distancing to minimize catching the virus of transmitting.

My 2nd doze renders me sleepy but Owise I seem to be better than the 1st doze thus far.
the virus might be in the body before the vacc, no symptoms type. vaccine waken up the hidden virus :gloomy:
good to continue those hygiene routine and crowd control ,safe distance in public

Possibility is there. Strange that he had his 2nd doze before discovery of infection. They did 2 tests and both came in positive. So, does it mean that he being young, sustained the infection without feeling much of covid effect & still continue working & nobody the wiser? MOE continue to do contact tracing & quarantine co-workers or dorm-mates?

Ya. We need continue our diligence.

It seems he got infected well after his 2nd dose. Vaccination doesn't mean that a person won't get it, just that the likelihood is lower. That's why all the precautions are still necessary till most of the population has been vaccinated. Then the likelihood will be even lower (but not nil).

Some Chinese have acknowledged their vaccines may not be that effective after all.

                    https://www.nytimes.com/2021/04/11/world/china-covid-vaccine.html?smid=fb-nytimes&smtyp=cur&fbclid=IwAR1kXnztyeCC3h7JHSpa4tu5MAIDbysN0vvAletqGGSSoM4M2_LqvbSEV6U

A senior Chinese official said that the country’s vaccines may need to be administered in greater doses or in concert with other shots because of their low overall effectiveness.

The comments on Saturday by Gao Fu, the director of China’s disease control center, suggest that China and more than 60 countries that have approved Chinese vaccines could need to adjust their distribution programs. The widespread distribution of Chinese vaccines means that any changes could potentially affect hundreds of millions of people or more.

Possible steps to increase the effectiveness of Chinese vaccines include changing the amount of vaccine given, the number of shots, the time between shots or the type of vaccines given, Mr. Gao said.

He also praised the possibilities offered by messenger RNA. That technology is used in the Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines but not in any of the vaccines thus far approved in China.
