Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) Updates
-
Life is so odd and different with the restrictions.
It’s post exams. What did we as teenagers do to celebrate the end of exams? I recall, hanging out with friends at Takashimaya Square, or a session of bowling, or watching a movie - huddling together in a fastfood restaurant over a copy of 8 days or Teenage or Her World magazine. It’s just a simple form of stress release. Then dwelling on the predicament of not-great grades (happens every cycle), with friends and all. These are just natural ways to self-regulate our mental health - we let out emotions, relax, and then continue with life. And then we go back to spending tons of time with our CCA post-exams.
When I look at my kids, I feel they are living rather abnormal lives! It’s post-exams, and we can’t even dine out with family or friends! Schools don’t allow students to hang out together, even within school. Everyone is masked, and there is a physical and psychological barrier between individuals.
How long should society prolong this? -

So sad to hear that you had suffer from Covid 19, please take care your health and hope your smell and taste can be coming back soonest.
MOH has been repeating this 98.6% that many ppl think that vast majority of the people who got COVID do not feel anything. Mind you, they only have 2 categories, asymptomatic/mild, and serious. Besides “serious” which means need oxygen and ICU, the rest are conveniently grouped as asymptomatic/mild. You know what are mild symptoms? I got COVID, so I know. It means having fever, very bad sore throat which feels painful when swallowing, loss of smell (cannot enjoy my coffee, no aroma), food taste bland, body aches. Most symptoms disappear after a week or so, but my smell and taste still have not come back.ChiefKiasu\" post_id=\"2043080\" time=\"1634737948\" user_id=\"3:
I think what most people are looking for is the truth, and the most encouraging data is fact that 98.6% of those with COVID symptoms are asymptotic without feeling anything at all. Chances are high that we are part of this group of people if we kanna :xedfingers:
COVID is closer than what we think. I am very careful type, have not dined out for months, refrain from touching things outside, wash hands and bathe once return from marketing. Yet I still got it (ART +ve). I most likely got it from my husband (PCR +ve), but he has no idea how he got it, he goes to work 2 days a week and dines outside with friend occasionally, besides that he is also quite careful and comply with SMM. Every day we hear 3k+ COVID cases, I suspect actual number is a lot more, as ART+ cases are not required to be reported. -
Some even need to live apart as a family…outing/socialising we can do without. My thinking is so long as we can retain the basic…health/life we can make up whatever lost in this period…

I think we are also protecting ourselves. It is not true that we only get mild flu like symptoms. There is loss of smell/taste (which we do not know it will take how long to recover) and we do not know if we will suffer from long COVID. We should not undermine the effects of COVID.
Now the fully vaccinated ones are facing restrictions in order to protect the unvaccinated ones. Is this correct? -
Justbehappy, if you don’t mind me ask…how long since covid now?

Definitely covid is NOT to be taken lightly. -
My sample size is not large - but everyone I know who caught Covid had symptoms, and typically, much worse than a normal bout of flu. Loss of taste and smell - this part is not painful - some did have bad fevers, chills and aches. However, these did go away. The down time tends to be one to two weeks.
One colleague who caught Covid was among the 1st batch of cases in Singapore (church cluster), and that case was hospitalized for a long time. This was pre-vaccine period.
