The system will first look at First choice list, allocate seats to those meet the cutoff , any remaining seats it goes to second row , and so forth. Once the seats are full in eg those who put at first choice , the system will stop looking further.
If many AL9 scorers put ACSI as First choice and have taken all the seats then there won’t be seats left for those who put ACSI as 2nd or 3rd choice , even though they have lower scorer egAL6.
If RI is your kid dream school just go for it!
And congrats to your kid having an amazing result.
You compete at the score level first, then Citizenship, then choice, then random balloting

(click to enlarge the picture under section \"School choice submission and tie-breakers\")
AL 6 will gets ACSI (doesn't matter if its 2nd choice or 3rd choice)
AL 9 will NOT get ACSI earlier than the above, (even if its the 1st choice)
Is that correct?
Choice order is used ONLY to tie-break
When two SG kids with AL9P selects ACSI, then 1st choice gets the slot over the 2nd choice.
(assuming 1 vacancy left)
This AL system is quite a maze to navigate.
Thankfully, there is KSP forum. -

Totally agree with you. After the first day of school, my ds told me tt he was surprised tt many of his classmates called their mum after class and spoke in Mandarin with China accent. My ds told me tt the Prc parents setup their own parent class chatgroup without the local parents. When I attended PTM or some school events, I was also surrounded by PRCs mums. I feel sad tt many local kids would have been \"squeezed\" out by these richer, highly educated and more resourceful parents who could afford expensive tuitions for their children. What Ri's ex principal said about Ri becoming a middle class school is really true.happydaddy\" post_id=\"2048058\" time=\"1637802713\" user_id=\"5470:
Sad to say, most of the elit schools have many foreigners and PR. These are the group of people did very well ($$) and put Singaporean children in a disadvantage position. You seldom see a blue collar's kid get into elit school compare to old time.
The so call all schools are good schools are invalid because the ratio of people being successful in life between the elit and neighbour schools are too wide.
Even with Singaporean first, not many local children meet the requirement.
When I pass by or visit the following school, below is my opinion:
Look at RVHS, it is as good as China School.
Look at RI, never see so many Indian in the School.
Look at Hwa Chong/NYGHS, it is looks like a Rich School. The countless trail of luxury cars waiting to drive into the school.
And many more.
Myth
1) All new immigrants are rich
2) All new immigrant kids are smart
3) Rich = smart kids
4) You need to be rich to be smart.
A child is a reflection of their parents. If parents doesn't embrace diversity and differences, so will be their children -

Ok. So suppose you are right that we are being taken over by Chinese PRs. What are YOU going to do about it? Simply sitting down and complaining about those PRs would do little good. Maybe get MOE to ban all PRs because Singapore schools are for Singaporeans only. Make our children grow up never communicating with a foreigner until they have to work with them as adults. Do you think that will work?

Hi all wise mommies and daddies out there, my DD has got 8+D and we stay at east. How high is our chance of getting into Dunman High? the cut-off point for Dunman is exactly 8+D. sigh…
Also, with regards to our second choice, would you recommend a 2nd tier IP school like TJC or O program from a 1st tier school, like St. Nicholas? what are the pros and cons between these 2 options that we need to bear in mind before coming into a decision? -

After all the (4 & 5) pointers have been admitted into RGS, probably,

It will be better if you one can help define what is many and also the name of the school.
If she is from GEP class or some top class of some top branded primary school, its possible. not also not many. Other than that I don't believe AL4 or AL5 is as common.
If she is aiming for RGS, AL6 will certainly require balloting, so my advice is to pick 2nd choice school very carefully.
You are right. My daughter is from the top class in her school (not sure if it will be considered \"top branded\", but it certainly is a popular school). I was just surprised by the fact that her class had at least 8 students with a combined score of AL4 or AL5. My daughter herself was pulled down by her languages.
Thank you for the tip. After reading through the posts here, I do indeed believe that RGS will require balloting for AL6. We will have to consider her 2nd and 3rd choices carefully. 🙏
only those 6-pointers who have placed RGS as their 1st choice school, then got chance to ballot.
If 6-pointers place RGS as 2nd choice school, they may be bypassed the golden chance of balloting. Risky ! Choice matters, starting this year.
There is a significant difference, when come to selecting schools, between Tscore vs. AL score system.
Under past T-score system, you still can put your choices :-
1) NYGH
2) RGS
But now under AL, u need to decide firmly, for your 1st choice school, choose either RGS OR NYGH. Otherwise, if u miss your round (chance) of balloting, especially if your PSLE AL score matches exactly the Cut off point of the Secondary school, u go down, down, down, your listing of 6 schools listed.[/quote]Thank you so much for sharing this. Very useful tips to help us with our school selection! 🙏🙏🙏 -
So this year ESIS is AL 5?
What about Third Languange (previously was T score 250?). What is the AL cut off for third language this year? -

AL8(D) is still ahead of AL8 and AL8 (M). So the chance should be high

Personally, I would go with TJC (AL9) or even SCGS instead of St Nich- O-level because at St Nic o-level affiliation COP is very low. -

Schools aside, IP vs OP is something you need to discuss with your DD.

If DHS is your DD’s dream school, go for it! How the actual COP will deviate from MOE’s indicative COP is anyone’s guess. Having a distinction in HCL puts your DD at the forefront of all the AL8s so it’s worth a shot IMO.
Whether to put TJC or other OP schools as 2nd choice will depend on how much you value IP. Bear in mind TJC will move to temp site during upgrading.
Cedar IP is worth considering also. Both Cedar and St Nicks are dual track schools. -
My DD scored AL7. The chance of getting to the school of choice is high?
National Junior College IP\t7
River Valley High School IP\t9(D)
Singapore Girl School IP\t8
Nan Hua High School\t11(D)
Nan Chiau High School\t11(M)
Chung Cheng High School (Yishun)\t11
