After all the (4 & 5) pointers have been admitted into RGS, probably,

It will be better if you one can help define what is many and also the name of the school.
If she is from GEP class or some top class of some top branded primary school, its possible. not also not many. Other than that I don't believe AL4 or AL5 is as common.
If she is aiming for RGS, AL6 will certainly require balloting, so my advice is to pick 2nd choice school very carefully.
You are right. My daughter is from the top class in her school (not sure if it will be considered \"top branded\", but it certainly is a popular school). I was just surprised by the fact that her class had at least 8 students with a combined score of AL4 or AL5. My daughter herself was pulled down by her languages.
Thank you for the tip. After reading through the posts here, I do indeed believe that RGS will require balloting for AL6. We will have to consider her 2nd and 3rd choices carefully. ๐
only those 6-pointers who have placed RGS as their 1st choice school, then got chance to ballot.
If 6-pointers place RGS as 2nd choice school, they may be bypassed the golden chance of balloting. Risky ! Choice matters, starting this year.
There is a significant difference, when come to selecting schools, between Tscore vs. AL score system.
Under past T-score system, you still can put your choices :-
1) NYGH
2) RGS
But now under AL, u need to decide firmly, for your 1st choice school, choose either RGS OR NYGH. Otherwise, if u miss your round (chance) of balloting, especially if your PSLE AL score matches exactly the Cut off point of the Secondary school, u go down, down, down, your listing of 6 schools listed.[/quote]Thank you so much for sharing this. Very useful tips to help us with our school selection! ๐๐๐ -
So this year ESIS is AL 5?
What about Third Languange (previously was T score 250?). What is the AL cut off for third language this year? -

AL8(D) is still ahead of AL8 and AL8 (M). So the chance should be high
Hi all wise mommies and daddies out there, my DD has got 8+D and we stay at east. How high is our chance of getting into Dunman High? the cut-off point for Dunman is exactly 8+D. sigh...
Also, with regards to our second choice, would you recommend a 2nd tier IP school like TJC or O program from a 1st tier school, like St. Nicholas? what are the pros and cons between these 2 options that we need to bear in mind before coming into a decision?
Personally, I would go with TJC (AL9) or even SCGS instead of St Nich- O-level because at St Nic o-level affiliation COP is very low. -

Schools aside, IP vs OP is something you need to discuss with your DD.

If DHS is your DDโs dream school, go for it! How the actual COP will deviate from MOEโs indicative COP is anyoneโs guess. Having a distinction in HCL puts your DD at the forefront of all the AL8s so itโs worth a shot IMO.
Whether to put TJC or other OP schools as 2nd choice will depend on how much you value IP. Bear in mind TJC will move to temp site during upgrading.
Cedar IP is worth considering also. Both Cedar and St Nicks are dual track schools. -

River Valley High School IP\t9(D)

I think stereotypes and perceptions are often not reliable. Not sure why TJC is a \"2nd tier\" IP school compared to St Nics. It's more important to consider the school's culture and factors such as CCAs, distance & transportation, co-ed vs single sex.... (just my opinion though)

A very valid concern and important factor to take into consideration. You want to look nice in your uniform so that you can learn well
