Congrats! Just something to note for parents looking to get into SOTA. To stand out from the crowd, your child should have attended some recognised professional courses in the area of interest, whether it is dance, theatre or art. The certification from these courses should give them an edge.
Hello, I am new to here. My DD has received a confirmed (CO) for dance domain.
My DD has been dancing for many years and she is very passion about it. At first we thought it is quite easy to get into SOTA but when several of her friends (very strong dancers also) received rejection, we realized we were wrong in our perception. I am guessing the selection criteria include dance passion, academic capability and TA/audition performance. My DD did had a lot of fun in the TA audition/interview and we were glad to be offered a CO. Hope these give some insight to future DSA applicants.
There are 2 main reasons that we will take up the offer
1. She wants to be a better dancer and we know that SOTA will be able to nurture her further. Note that DD is also a competitive dancer in an external dance school.
2. The 6 years IB Program which lead to a diploma cert. My DS is currently in another IB school (Year 5) and I really like the many other skills (beside the extensive knowledges) that he has acquired at this young age thru this program. You can read this recent article )https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/parenting-education/ib-diploma-and-a-levels-how-the-two-routes-differ-0
I will be happy to hear from any SOTA students/parents their experience so far. -

Yup. He attended the 2-day Junior TA Theater workshop in March. So so so much more fun for him than the writing competition. Anyways, he also got invited to apply on a Theater slot
Each art form has their own way of having a peek into the depth of talent BEFORE Talent Academy which happens in June. Theatre had a two day workshop during March holidays too, and also offered direct entry to TA in June for some
, and to last week's Saturday open house.
At last Saturday's SOTA open house, we noticed that there were groups from Theater, Visual Arts, and Dance(?). However there were none from Literary Arts. hmmm... -

Those who attended SOTA, may I know where your children end up in universities? Are they more interested towards humanities and social sciences?

Good question. I'm also keen to know.
Those who attended SOTA, may I know where your children end up in universities? Are they more interested towards humanities and social sciences?
As an aside, under what domain (dance, theatre, visual art etc.) is your child considering SOTA?
