Rear facing child seats

The video says “until they are 4 years old”.
I just saw this video and I finally understood why they suggested that child seats should be placed facing backwards in the car. I've never seen cars with rear facing child seats, though. Well, food for thought.

I recall for babies, we did place the child seats rear-facing. But when upgrade to older child seats (age 3?) didnt have any rear-facing ones sold in SG shops. At least not the Isofix ones that we were looking at. -
Lol… I don’t even know how to set up a rear facing child seat in my car. Must it be specially made?

U know those baby seats that snap on to frames with wheels? I had that type. Remove from frame, place baby seat onto car passenger seat, then use the seat belt to secure the seat. Face rear preferably since safety experts advise that. Then pack pram frame into the boot.

I used rear-facing car seats for my kids, and that was in the 90s! They’ve been around for years. As far as I recall, the age to let them face front was around 9-10mths, or when they reach 9kg. Mainly because their neck control is not good when they are very young, and the injuries from whiplash would be greater. But my tiny older girl was still under 8kg at 12mths, and we just let her face front - it seemed crazy as her neck control was good by then.

Hi fellow parent, as a new parent to be, I am quite lost on what type of car seat I should be getting for my little one. My car comes with an isofix. Anyone have any recommendations for that? I am also looking for one without isofix. Thanks!

I have a car with isofix, and I can’t place a seat rear.

Just back from a trip to visit family in singapore (we’ve lived overseas for many many years) and it’s wild to me that Singapore doesn’t really have a strict child seat policy. Over here it’s rear facing until at least 2, but most people rear face until the child maxes out the RF limits of their seat, usually around 18kg. My 4 year old is still rear facing! And kids need to be in a car seat legally until they are 7 but ideally until they are 148cm tall or 11 years old. We asked the family in singapore about borrowing or hiring a car seat and none of them knew anything despite having young kids themselves, so we ended up bringing our own from NZ.
