Hi everyone, let me share with you my experiences about choosing the right tutor. I feel that it is important for your tutor to be able to cater to the different needs of the child. For example, some child may be more of a visual learner, hence it is important for your tutor to be able to draw or carry out their lessons or explanations in the form of drawings.

I also believe that the relationship between your tutor and child is important as a good relationship would most definitely make your child look forward to having lessons with him or her! My kids have been my following my tutor since 2019 and he is doing a good job. If you are looking for a tutor, u can pm me and I will be more than happy to share with you his contact details. Thanks!! 🙂

How do you evaluate a tutor if he is teaching well without waiting to wait for the tests or WA results?

Depending on how old is your child, you could ask him if he enjoys his lesson with this tutor, what does he learn during class, is it within the syllabus or extra stuff etc. I feel that if the rapport with the tutor has been built nicely, the child would learn well and will not resist work given.

Hello parents, may I know what are your unmet needs or frustrations when you are choosing a enrichment activity for your beloved children? We all know that they deserve nothing less than the best.

Please feel free to elaborate on the process(es) that you are currently going through to select/filter a suitable teacher/center and other possible considerations that I might have left out as well!

Cheers and thanks in advance! :xedfingers:

Parents, do pop in to share tips about how you’ve found good tutors for your kids!

My youngest is 14. We’ve hired tutors for mostly CL2, as well as for maths and science in the PSLE years.

For evaluating tutors: for us, it’s about the feedback that they give. Are tutors sensitive, to have certain conversations out of earshot? If they notice issues like carelessness, what’s the strategy for dealing with this? Do they just give practice papers week after week, or do they also retest?

For English tutors, we haven’t hired any, but I think the evaluating factors might be: how do they speak/text in casual/conversational situations, and what materials are they using? We’ve avoided model essay books 🙂

                        Hope to hear from others!
