My Dd got an offer letter for her 2nd choice: Dentistry. Her first choice medicine for both NUS & NTU are under waitlist. How the waitlist goes for her now? Will NUS reject her medicine waitlist? Deadline to accept Dentistry is 24 May.
Did anyone still remember from an earlier thread that someone mentioned that either you will be offered medicine or dentistry and not both? Well, it's possible to be offered both choices.

If you are being put on medicine waitlist from NUS and NTU, and being offered a second course on your option, please do an acceptance first to reserve the course - in case if not being offered after waitlist deadline.

Since the 2nd option being offered was from dentistry NUS, then if you are offered by NUS medicine after waitlist, you have to do an acceptance on the NUS portal and the other 2nd choice accepted earlier will be superseded. I believe an email will be sent to you explaining this.

As for NTU medicine waitlist - if you are being offered, just write an email to notify NUS admin that you would like to decline the dentistry course.

Likewise if NUS medicine didn't offer you the medicine after waitlist but NTU did, then do an acceptance for NTU and email NUS admin to decline your acceptance of the dentistry course.

Usually they will inform you the waitlist before the matriculation deadline so that enough time is given for you to do the acceptance and decision to decline.

Congratulations! for getting into dentistry and all the best for the medicine waitlist.

When NUS/NTU med offer to waitlist student, usually need to reply within few days (like eg 2-3 days time), pls check email regularly. When your child accept the offer, usually they need to fill in the course & uni that they already accepted early. Uni admission office will do arrangement according. Pls read the offer letter and instruction clearly.

So far no one is able to work up the numbers. It wasn't make known.[/quote]
According to my dd, not many received double offer this year. Many received either nus or ntu. According to previous few yrs discussion, waitlist convert seem moving slow therefore do prepare for the worst and move forward. Waitlist offer usually start from end May till mid/end July.

What if there is a scholarship offered for the second choice but child is waiting for results of the waitlist? Does this typically mean the child should not accept the scholarship for second choice?

This year’s JAP online acceptance deadline is on 24 May (for offer before 24 May). However waitlist offer usually happens after 24 May (after double offer student make decision). Waitlist offer is not guaranteed, unless the child prepares to take gap year or go oversea or ns, the child should consider accept the best 2nd choice offer first while waiting for med waitlist offer.

Would you shortchange your retirement funds by 200k for your kid’s education? For e.g. Duke -NUS medical school.

When one was awarded a scholarship, terms and conditions given and also clear explanation provided regarding the acceptance of the scholarship.

One just accept the course and scholarship, then wait for the waitlist outcome. The 2nd option of the course would be superseded when you are being offered the Medicine course and the scholarship will be replaced with the scholarship from the medical school (note: terms and conditions of offer will be different). I am referring your acceptance is from the same medicine school. Please go through the terms and conditions of the letter and seek the matter with the school for clarification.

The love of a family is life's greatest blessing. It's not what we have in life, it's about who we have in our life that matters. Family matters most and try to cherish it.
