Need some kind advice here from parents who also stayed in the east. šŸ˜“ šŸ˜“ šŸ˜“

We stay in the east, near Tampines. My DD result is AL4 but we are concerned of the travel distance for her, if she get into RGS. We wanted her to consider DHS as it seems nearer. I would like to hear from those parents who stay in East.

      Any comments greatly appreciated.
Can also consider buses that uses PIE like 59 and 129 change to 93 in comparison to MRT if this helps.

Ask your daughter to test run for one whole week first, whether she can tahan changing mrt + bus, to go RGS. The answer lies in your daughter. If she can't tahan for one week, then forget about RGS,
        because

this is going to be reality for her everyday, not just one way but two ways,

unless ... u are prepared to shift house, nearer (closer) to RGS.

For me, if I stay in Tampines, I won't even consider RGS. Will think of IP (either Temasek JC or Dunman High)

Thank you very much for all the helpful replies. Greatly appreciate it. I am trying to get feedback from parents whose DD are in RGS on the distance and whether they can cope with it.

Dear parents, DD want to apply MEP at Y1 after orientation, we are not sure she can succeed or not.

But now can choose 3rd language in S1 OPTION FORM.
I would like to know can submit the 3rd language first and then drop it if we got into the MEP (as I know only choose one from MEP and 3rd language) ?
            Thanks in advance.

I suggest you call up the school tomorrow to check
They should be able to advise you more.

Of course, u submit MOELC 3rd language choice first now.

                  Why ?

                  Because

for some (certain) 3rd languages, they are so popular, so hot in demand, even over subscribed !

                  In early January 2024,
RGS will conduct audition for MEP. If your daughter really get selected (offered), assuming that she is successful for MEP, and say, between 3rd language vs. MEP, if her heart slants more towards in favor of music (MEP), then

just submit the Withdrawal form from 3rd language (MOELC) anytime, to let her focus on MEP. By then, you are allowed to choose only one : either MEP or 3rd language (MOELC). Not both.

On the other hand, if she is not successful with MEP, then just continue with her 3rd language (MOELC).

                      Dear Parents!

I am hoping for your advice. My daughter has a score of 6D and her dream school is RGS. However, we had advised her (after reading the posts here) that she would be subjected to balloting for a spot.

Her current choices for submission of schools:

                      1) RGS
                      2) NYG
                      3) NJC
                      4) SCGC IP
                      5) Cedar IP
                      6) RVH

2nd,3rd and 4th was based on proximity. As a parent, I felt that she should place NYG as her first choice and had explained to her the practicality of attending a school closest to home. She understood but decided to still give RGS a shot.

Hence, I’d like to seek some advice from Parents on the odds of getting into NYG with her score because from reading the discussions from 2019 onwards, it seemed that her chances of getting into RGS is extremely low with a 6. Most importantly, I felt that I should try to gather as much information as possible in guiding her in choosing a school.

                      Thank you!!!

p.s. she had attended open houses for school 1 to 4 and.

Congrats.. let her try since she is the one studying, not parents. I'm in the same situation too. Anyway, your 2-4 choices are quite safe..
