    • RE: AL6 IP - Top Choice RGS or MGS ?

@iRabbit said in AL6 IP - Top Choice RGS or MGS ?:

Since we’re getting our hands dirty with guesstimates and numbers, here’s my take. Now we know that RGS Y1 intake is roughly 400 and 100% IP. Assuming MGS intake is of similar size and we also know that it offers affiliated students bonus of up to AL 17 (2024 intake), one would assume that the IP intake of the latter to be much smaller.

Having a smaller intake would make it more susceptible to fluctuations in COP. Perhaps we may see the first balloting for AL 5 kids to MGS in future, if there’s an uptake in its popularity.

nope, for IP no affiliation if im not wrong… only SEC will have affli…

I’m afraid I wasn’t very clear in my last post. I’m not saying that affiliated MGS students are eligible for IP. What I meant to highlight was that MGS IP intake should be much lesser than RGS since it offers affiliation to students and that is only applicable to the O level track.

oh, ok… haha, i miss interpreted your earlier post.

But there are 3500 more students this year than last year. If RGS does not increase the intake this year, the AL 5 foreigners may still be balloted out. If I am the parent of a foreigner AL 5 girl, I will still place RGS as 1st choice (that is if I find the school suit my girl), and also seriously choose a 2nd choice school that my girl is happy with too.

if base on stats, with 3500 more students, 3% top with AL4-5 means around 105 students more with AL4-5, if base on this number, for simplicity, assuming around 53 girl and 52 boy… so, assuming all half applying for RGS and MGS, that work out to be around 26 per school extra applicants with AL4-5 which will eat into AL-6 slots. how many affected? we have no idea since we wont have the breakdown… also not all AL4-5 will apply only these 2 schools, the actual number for extra applicant fighting for the limited seat would be around 20 is my guess… i dont think AL-5 will be balloted out, these extra applicants will eat into AL-6 slots… so, those with AL6 will be even harder to get in…

yes, my gal AL6 last year and balloted out… luckily… it was not my 1st choice anyway but my gal was swayed to try it because of many kaypoh influencers around (keep saying to her, aiyoh such good result why not rgs, etc…)

My daughter is offered ESIS, is it a confirmed for all those opted for IP? I don’t see it in my message. Does it mean she didn’t get it?
From my understanding, only al5 and below with get ESIS., al6 didn't get it. And isn't rgs only offer ip program? .

Hi everyone. My daughter will be going to Cedar Girls Sec 1, in 2024. We live in Punggol and she plans to take MRT to school from here. Do you know which MRT is closest to Cedar Girls, Potong Pasir or Woodleigh? Thanks, Tony.
Hi there, I stay in Pg too. I have studied the route and drove there to understand that area. There are generally 3 way.

      1) take mrt until woodleigh. Take bus 100, 135 or 155 , I think 2 bus stop away and will walk in pass by cedar primary that road. Sheltered all the way, walk for 5-6mins to the main entrance

      2) take mrt to woodleigh, take bus 107 or 107M. Just 1 bus stop only, and walk will cut thru hbd block. Toward Blk110B, this will lead to the back door of cedar. This walk should be similar or slightly shorter than the former way.

      3) mrt to potong pasir, this will be the longest walk in to the main entrance. Not really recommended.

You can check out the map to understand what I meant and get a sense of direction. Use Onemap apps which is more updated than Google map.

Location to school, is very important.

      Example

Suppose you stay in Bidadari and Cedar Girls' Secondary school is just right downstairs, next to your block. Just enrol your kid into Cedar Girls. Everyday, can wake up late, 10 minutes before sing \"Mari Kita\", just walk downstairs into the school gate.
Reason I applied the bidadari many years ago, a few round, all cannot get a number... Haha .was aiming for cedar for my girl....haha..
