NTUC would run some promotion early on (eg. $5 for every $50 spent) and I would go and buy all the nonsense to earn that $5 😂 So by January, all the supermarket vouchers are gone. The vouchers are basically useless 🤷
Don't buy 20 packs of coconuts water and carry them home by hand this time.

Coconut Water - Too much sugar for diabetes patients
Carry 20 packs back home - hurt your frozen arms and cause your arm muscle and your back pain. 😓

Can't blame the government for that. Just don't buy the nonsense if it's more than the extra amount you will get! If you spend it on non-perishables which you would definitely NEED later, it helps you save money - toilet paper, rice, laundry detergent, etc. Or, as someone mentioned, CNY is coming and most people will need to stock up for that.

Govt will give $500 but look at the things which will be increased.

Not just that.... property taxes set to increase, coe is still at crazy high level, 1% gst that seems to translate into higher than 1% increase at hawker center... Is it age? didn't seem to bother me previously but this time round it's getting to me like this is really bad... everything is just going up.

I think last time the rising of prices not so fast and furious. I only remember when the sugar and egg prices increase, hot beverages and prata increase 10cts. Then the mugs for the hot beverages getting thicker or smaller. Last time/not too long ago, hawker food is below $3.50 and $3.5 and above is food court price…for many years already right…now aiyo on and off we read people complaining through social media on shock of food prices. McDonald’s increase think quite abit this year. Increase slowly with wage increase is ok we don’t feel much…

I wanted to post this morning but holding back..I would prefer our G to be stingy a bit also in terms of giving back as vouchers/grants etc.

I agree and personally i also try to avoid threading on such topics or comments. But it's quite atrocious when you see the hawker center/ coffeeshop noodles going at $7.50 becoming the norm.... or maybe we are the sandwich class where we've elderly parents and school going kids to support that while we cannot complain about our income as we are still getting decent increase but we also start to feel the pinch. At the same time, there are more actions soon that is not just a pinch but maybe a bruise .. 🤷 Maybe that's how i felt at this point.

I feel if only 1 or 2 person eating outside is still ok…but for a family, better cook at home even the simplest dishes. Whenever I bake, seeing how many buns the kids can eat at one go, I always think wah eat outside will bankrupt leh lol…I seldom drink coffee from outside nowadays…I like to bring a tub of coffee when outside waiting for my kids.

                        Exactly!!

In fact, many of my friends feedback that the G anyhow gives out ang baos.

I would think such ang baos should be given to those really in need. Those staying in 5room flat and above may not find $200 as useful as those staying in 2rm rental flat.

Give us chicken wings later recoup from the higher property tax and income tax. Not to mention the 1% increase in GST in a few days’ time!
