You are reading too much into what I write. I am not saying that one need to be a President scholar to do well in life. I am just highlighting the fact that a culture of mugging does not mean it leads to excellence.

You yourself have said that NYJC has fantastic A level results, then why is the dismay performance in scholarship attainment? This is what I am alluding to. Doesn't anybody here feel the that its an anomaly?

Instead of posting here, please write directly to nyjc@moe.edu.sg to address the huge concern that you have. I am sure the school will look into it.

I am posting here because there are many here that are celebrating a culture of mugging as a sign of excellence.

I have no intention of writing to NYJC as i have no vested interest. Perhaps parents who have kids in NYJC should write in instead?

This is on TJC class of 2021 A level result (1 parent share with me sometimes back)

            https://www.temasekjc.moe.edu.sg/highlights/archive/stories/class-of-2021-hwee-keng-sai-n-yock-yan/

1 out of 4 achieved perfect score of 90 UAS. This is HCI’s 23 standard and RI’s 22 standard. Some part of TJC may be as good as our top JCs.

There are always something schools can learn from each other. No school can claim to be perfect in all departments.

it’s a common acknowledgment that IP students are in general, relatively better academically than JAE students. I believe JAE students have no problem accepting that. Relative would mean among them within Spore system. But as a whole all schools’ standard are high to the world.

NYJC achieves consistently better A level results (an academic department matter) with JAE students is something worth studying for any schools. On the other hand NYJC’s scholarship department is relatively under performing compare other schools. I believe this is acknowledged by many too. And NYJC is doing something about it.

For me, all the comparisons we discuss openly are on 1 part of the school. They do not represent the entire school’s achievements. The comparisons are for all schools’ improvements. Not to put any party down. Even good schools can pick up a thing or 2 , to fine tune their already good system.

Discussion on improvements is broken down in steps. And one department at a time and when learning opportunity arise. It could give a wrong expression of fixation only on 1 part of the school as representing entire school’s achievements.

At thiis time of the day, there are still so many self-satisfying souls itrying to convince or sell NYJC is on par with RI/HCi. Don’t you guys get tired of it??? Let’s make everyone happy here once and for all by saying NYJC is the No. I. That should put all thiese worthless comprison to rest. For many years, RI/HCI have been using actions and outcome to convince and not via any forum to do the same.

In two year’s time when the RP total gets revised to max 70, we should see a narrowing of medium/mean scores among the top 5 JC. I mean a diff of 1 pt or less is negligible to say the least (it’s less than a single H1 grade drop for heaven’s sake) and by then, hopefully people won’t be so free to dissect why JC A score is 0.5 less than JC B despite being an IP sch.

Not sure if NYJC is currently the number one JC, but very sure that in terms of being partisan and engaging in tribalism, its supporters are truly number one.

I am just trying to make the people here happy by saying NYJC is No. 1 (obviously it is not). My message to all is that you don’t need to keep telling others that you are good. If you are really good, others can tell even if you never say that you are good. If you are not as good or not good, no matter how much you tell others that you are good, others will know that you are not as good or not good.

I do not think anyone here claim we are #1. The students are just JAE kids, nowhere close to RI/ HCI. We are in a different league (unique and nurturing one just for JAE) totally but who cares. 🙂

Only some weird parents whose children are not even in NYJC are trying to stir, for the obvious reasons. Hope they can finally sleep well. 😂

                      1)

All parents whose children had never studied in Nanyang JC, before -

                      Be gracious !

Give due credit, when the credit is due.
Nanyang JC indeed has done very well, in last year (2023) A-level batch. So, let us applaud these graduates, for their diligent, hard work done. Be generous, when credit is due.

                      Ask yourself this qn -

If your son or daughter is a graduate from NYJC and has done well, surely, as a parent, u would be happy for them, right ? Surely, as a father or a mother, u won’t want to throw rotten eggs at them, right ?

                      The same thing !

Even though your child didn’t study In NYJC before, why keep throwing stones at them ? Just because they are not your son or daughter ?

Come on ! All parents love their children, don’t they ?

                      2)

One more important thing, I want to emphasise Is -

There is very little difference, between median 85 and median 86. So, this means that

Victoria JC, Eunoia JC, National JC, Temasek JCs have done just as well as Nanyang JC. They all have done very well, in last year 2023 A level.

So, to those parents who do have children graduated from NYJC,

pls STOP emphasising that NYJC has done better than the other JCs. No such thing. The difference of 1 percent Median, is … neglible. Whether u are an IP student from EJC / VJC / TJC / NJC or whether u are a JAE student from NYJC, all of you have done equally well. Just as good. Give yourself a big clap, whether u hail from
                      ( Eunoia / Victoria / National / Temasek) JC

So, please, refrain yourself, NYJCians, from ranking yourself as number what, number what. Always remain humble. And remember your source of water, where u drinking from.

To all NYJCian parents & students out here,

Principal Mr Pang Chong How happen to hail from ex Hwa Chong. He so happen to be … That’s all.

Even if today, 2024, NYJC has another Principal Not from Hwa Chong, also doesn’t matter, correct ?

Why doesn’t matter, who is the Principal, from ?

                        Because

The 2 Former, ex Principals, had done an excellent, wondeful job. The founder had established the reputation of NYJC, so well. Give a BIG round of applause, to these 2 great Principal (s) !!!

                        Remember.
                        Be grateful.
                        Be grateful to who ?
Be grateful to these 2 ex Principal. The source of water, u drink from !

                        As of today,
all NYJC parents & graduated students + current students rejoice, because

I believe that all of you are already very happy with how NYJC has turned out to be today, already ! Clap hands, loudly
