To all NYJCian parents & students out here,

Principal Mr Pang Chong How happen to hail from ex Hwa Chong. He so happen to be ... That's all.

Even if today, 2024, NYJC has another Principal Not from Hwa Chong, also doesn't matter, correct ?

Why doesn't matter, who is the Principal, from ?

      Because

The 2 Former, ex Principals, had done an excellent, wondeful job. The founder had established the reputation of NYJC, so well. Give a BIG round of applause, to these 2 great Principal (s) !!!

      Remember.
      Be grateful.
      Be grateful to who ?
Be grateful to these 2 ex Principal. The source of water, u drink from !

      As of today,
all NYJC parents & graduated students + current students rejoice, because

I believe that all of you are already very happy with how NYJC has turned out to be today, already ! Clap hands, loudly
      :goodpost:

Principals, Teachers, Parents and Students, I believe that these are the people who truly made NYJC the College she is today. 🙂 A college can have many things right, but without the people actively and collaboratively contributing to the vibrancy and the community, a college will never excel. May NYJC continue to soar to greater heights. 🙂

I do not think anyone here claim we are #1. The students are just JAE kids, nowhere close to RI/ HCI. We are in a different league (unique and nurturing one just for JAE) totally but who cares. 🙂

Only some weird parents whose children are not even in NYJC are trying to stir, for the obvious reasons. Hope they can finally sleep well. 😂

You are reading too much into what I write. I am not saying that one need to be a President scholar to do well in life. I am just highlighting the fact that a culture of mugging does not mean it leads to excellence.

You yourself have said that NYJC has fantastic A level results, then why is the dismay performance in scholarship attainment? This is what I am alluding to. Doesn't anybody here feel the that its an anomaly?
      Noted.

Instead of posting here, please write directly to nyjc@moe.edu.sg to address the huge concern that you have. I am sure the school will look into it.

It does not mean that one needs to be a President Scholar in order to do well in their career. Even if for next 50 years, there is no president scholar from NYJC, so be it. The college will still be popular among the O-level students as long as it maintains its standard and beautiful culture, 校风. If the students are keen in such prestigious scholarship, they would have chosen RI. Many students in NYJC are well-qualified for RI too but they have their reasons for choosing NY instead. No right or wrong as long as they are happy.

I find it strange that every year, there are parents who just cannot sleep well when NYJC produced fantastic A-level results. 😆

How many President scholars the school produced, this is not important to me. What more important is the school culture and the consistency in delivering good A-level results year on year. As long as my child enjoys learning and is highly motivated in doing so, with selfless classmates supporting one another, caring teachers whom the students may approach anytime they need help, quality tutorial materials and revision package, it is good enough. I can’t be asking for more. These are the main reasons that I feel really proud of this college.

I don't thk the school merely focuses on 3H2 n 1H1. But i dont have ready hard number to share off hand. A number of my DD1's classmates actually takes 4H2. But if they are not doing well in one of their H2 subjects, noticeably Chem, they will be advise to drop the 4th H2 in J2.

There is a record number (in NYJC) of J2 students in the grad class of 2023 admitted for EASE, close to 24% of the corhort (i came across the list 1st hand, so no qualms on the number). These are the ones who have good prelim results (possibly other CT results, not sure ) and good portfolio to be selected for the \"green harvesting\" program for local uni's early admission. So it may be an indication of the no of students taking 4H2 and some even has a H3 subject, on top of their CCA commitment.

True enough. My child does not have fantastic results but is still taking 4 H2, same for his friends, all 4 H2. Therefore, I certainly do not think the school just focus on 3 H2.

Hi, actually there are a number of Nett 5 in my child’s PCME CT so I think it is fine for a nett 5 to place NY Science as first choice. However, if the child only want to get into science stream, do not put NY Arts as 2nd choice but EJC/ VJC/ NJC (Science) as backup.

I can’t be sure if there are 2 vacancies left, who will enter first? Both the S’porean will be accepted first?

      6-1 (PR)
      7-2 (S’porean)
      9-4 (S’porean)
