I have been curious what make a PSC scholar. Excellent academic results is a given (but not all of the time 😄 ). And we heard so much about the willingness to serve. Exactly how? So i search YouTube and found these media interviews with scholars and they show some details

For aspiring scholarship holders, I would say, don’t be fixated with PSC. There are many, many other scholarship opportunities apart from PSC. PSC’s application and selection is the most onerous, thorough and some may even say intrusive. It’s also not possible to pre-figure out what PSC is looking for. They are not looking for a specific individual, but a diversity of a group of individuals who will serve the country together, each contributing their strengths and experiences. And no, one does not need perfect grades - strong academics, but a perfect score is not at all a requirement.

The PSC selection mini games may seem fun but behind the games is the design that draws out your personality ie racing against time - what do you do; perfectionist or one who focus on outcome rather than process; how you keep cool/rational under pressure; aggressive or passive person, risk-taker or risk-adverse. Not sure what PSC is looking for though……

Got to think and click it fast of the solution to the puzzle and your performance is straightaway rated right next to the question after you finished each question. Hence, solving the puzzle is one thing and to get an outstanding rating is another. Some puzzle seems easy at first glance and the candidate could be fooled to quickly come put with the solution thinking that the a fast solution is a job well done only to realise that the rating for that solution is OK only.

I think the G wants to find out how fast your brain works under high pressure. Afterall, no one wants to invest heavily in a dud.

Should be also test how consistent candidates are. Not surprise if there are built in mechanism that combine parameters from few of candidates’ answers, to arrive at conclusions. Maybe same questions are asked in different orders/variations. Test candidates at instinctive level. Candidates just be themselves, more likely to achieve optimal performance

                    Fyi

In Nanyang Junior College (NYJC), apart from many affliated students coming in from Chung Cheng High,

                    Nan Chiau High

is the other Secondary school where many JAE students also flocked to NYJC, after their O level results released, even though Nan Chiau High is Not affliated to NYJC, at all.

hello, does anyone know the average a level resuls? eg (economics A, Math, A etc)
also, heard that nyjc does have a very bad mugger culture, worried that it may just cause more stress for me. is this true?
Outstanding. Maybe among the top 3, if not the best, in Singapore.

At least that's what the folks behind a firewall on the internet said / claimed / alluded to.
