Thks jedamum for your reply..indeed helpful..think i should call up e centre tomo..cos after dropping them an email on Mon, no reply till nowMy ds1 has been there since mid K1. Now he is in P1. So far i am satisfied with the teachers. My ds1 is the sit and listen type, so he does not give teachers any problem
.
I didn't sign my ds2 up. The teacher told me that he is not ready considering that he has not started any playgroup/daily class.
Overall, i like the staff/teachers there. Last Saturday when i was there, I saw a teacher 'teaching' a parent (whose kid is in Pri sch) some HYPY basics.
Will u sign ur ds2 once he is more ready?taramind:
The teachers in Woodlands Berries seem to be more \"fierce\", but the controlled environment is better for my kids. I think my boy's K1 teacher is quite serious and boring. But he does not complain so no problem
I would also prefer a teacher to discipline my boy..cos knowing his 'pattern' he needs someone who is firm yet loving to teach him..he knows exactly who can be bullied lah..but then again, i shall try out personally & if really they r unable to take him to hand, then consider 'shifting' to Woodlands one..
taramind:
Thks for the tip..hmm..wonder whether to pop by this sun to check out... :roll:Bukit Batok Berries is good, but you need to find a smaller class. You can ask them how many kids in the class at each specific timing. My girl used to be in a class with a total 4 kids only. In a small class, each child has more attention from the teacher.
Orchard Berries is also good, then you can drop your boy and go shopping.
orchard branch huh...aiyo..doubt i can go shopping...my boy will be like super glue..esp for the 1st few session..

we’re pulling our p5 boy out of Berries… reached a point when the material and training not enough to cope with his school standards…

I remember last yr, I went for a talk conducted by Chang Mei Hsiang of Eduplus. From there, we were told to be prepared as our child's marks for P3 will drop at least 10 marks. That time, I was like, isit, sure or not? This year, I was shocked to find my P3 girl CA marks dropped drastically. Previously, her CL marks used to be Band 1 for P1 and P2, are there any parents of P3 experience the same?

Most schools nowadays dont have CA1 for P1-3, hard to track by now. Usually, P3 mark get dragged down by compo when comes to SA. -
Hi all, just wanted to share my experience… I just sent my N1 and K1 for trial class last nite (Thu 730pm class) @ Berries Woodlands.
I agree with Tamarind, the K1 teacher looks fierce le… actually wondering if I should switch my kid to another day class to try… her first comment when she came out… "Mommy, I didn’t play any games, u know" …partly my fault after the enquiry before the trial, I told my kid she will be learning new Chinese games (that was what I was told ma…) But overall, she was ok.
For N1 actually just thought of letting her play2 for one time since bringing che2 there, but it seems that she enjoyed heer class much more than che2 with all the singing and movements. We had to wait for 15min for che2 to finish, and she kept on moving into the class to look for her teacher. So Teacher Ling must be doing something really good!
BTW, they allow us to peep throughout class. On the way home, both were jabbering away in their extremely limited Chinese. I’m definitely signing them up next week. But if anyone has experience with Tuesday 730pm class (different teacher) for Berries Woodlands please share.

Hi! Not sure if this is relevant for me to post this here.
Does anyone know of any school or private teacher that can teach Han Yu Pin Yin for P1?
My boy is quite confused with Phonic and Han Yu Pin Yin. Sigh.. Beginning Term 1 he is still can managed but as the class progress along..he seems lost and confused.
I'm not so good at teaching HYPY. Anyone can advised?
THanks in advance!

Hi Mckenzy,
Where will you be putting ur P5 boy then ?
I was just thinking about switching my P2 boy from Jiang to Berries, and enrol my P4 boy in Berries too.
But, luckily I stumble into your post first.
Berries really not \"there\" for upper primary ? -
Hi

Hi jedamum,
I oso brought my boy for his trial at Berries (BB) last week as his jiejie is oredy there...so tot that instead of wasting time going gai gai with me each week at west mall, why not enrol him in and let him 'learn' and 'play', not expecting much actually. Also, since we speak English most of the time and seeing the good progress of jiejie after joining berries, we intend to start early for our boy. But I think he's by far the youngest bah, he's 28 mths and smallest in build. First thing the teacher asks if he's oredy 2. :faint:
Jiejie was so proud to bring his little bro to class as she expects didi to cry like her. When my girl enrolled during last term of N2 last yr, I sat with her for a mth until she stopped crying completely but each time I will stay at most half an hr. Didi was too engrossed with the toys that he din even know I left. So happily I went to register and do up the rest, when I return to peep him, he was in the asst teacher lap as he was crying. I did ask the teacher if he's ok, they say he has mellow down so shld be fine. Ok, I went to west mall then...scarly Berries called me back, saying my boy has been crying for long. Wow, hurriedly pay for my things and ran back to the school. Guess wat, he was oredy sleeping in the teacher's lap. Haha...it's my fault also, tat's her naptime and I assume once he is 'entertained' he will not be sleepy...but I was wrong. :stupid:
But teacher did not stop me from continuing, in fact she encourages us to enrol him, just tat we need to adjust on his naptime. Prob becos my boy is currently on daily 3hrs PreN, so he knows what to expect and behave. We will continued on and see how the next few lessons go. My boy took 2 weeks to settle down on his PreN w/o crying though. :udawoman: He is picking things fast at this stage so I wish to expose him more. Boys tend to be a slower learner than girls, I feel....so good to give him a good headstart. :celebrate:
Pray hard.... -

ya...i think that is the main difference...they said i should start my boy on daily lessons first before the once a week enrichment.
