My ds is in P1, but could find thread for P1 English.
Just to share what he did wrong in his term 1 test.
So far, 2 marks were deduct on the following points:

      1. He must put all the books _______ the shelves.
The answer is \"on\" but he chose \"into\".

      2. Show and tell
Have checked with him why he did not score full marks.
He said the teacher asked him a very difficult question,
ie. why did your father buy you the toy, and he didn't know how to answer.

        Question...

        - He always win or He always wins?

My son said something like there is already a 's' in 'always', so no need a 's' in win.

          She/He/It always wins.

          I/We/They always win.

How to always win. (In this case the 'to' is the keyword ..to win..not to wins)

Can I know what marks do your P1 children normally score for English Paper 2 and creative writing? Any idea how many marks should a child score to be considered well done?

They are in St Anthony's Primary School. I was also very surprised when I got to know about it.

if creative writing means compo (ie write 5-8lines of a pic given), my boy's neighbourhood school also have compo writing in P1.
i was quite surprised initially...the school did not term it as 'composition'; they term it as 'Written Expression'. i think it is getting common nowadays as compared to our time....

Oh yes, used the wrong term. The school called it \"written expression\" for the examination. Children are expected to write about 60 words based on 4 pictures given. And it must be written in a story form, not just plain sentences. Teachers stress that the story must flow fluently. Really not easy to be P1 kids nowadays!
