Hi Sefina, you may want to check with SHHK if it will be too late to join as member. I understood that they have a requirement that you be a member for at least 1 year prior to registration before they will issue you the letter.

Understood that in 2008, if you wanted to enrol in Aitong, you have to be a member for at least 4 years prior. this was due to high demand for that school. SHHK does control the letters they issue.

A last resort could be to go via the RC route. You may not be too late for PV. My friend registered recently for PV at a top school and managed to clock up more than 30 hours already.
      Hi Sefina,

What Hquek said, you have to be a PV for 1 yr is very true. Sign up now.
Do you stay 1km from the school? Asking SHHK doesnt really help much. They have 5 or 6 school under the clan. If you are staying near, its good to try out but the chances are 50%-50%, but if too many enrolment, then have to ballot.

Studying in the sch is a prestige like all in-demand schools, surviving is another issue. If you are prepared to go through all these, then it is good to try. Consider, P1- they have CA1, SA1, CA2, SA2. Some in-demand schools only need to sit for SA2. Good neighbourhood sch have small test but no term test. So, will you feel stress for your kid when studying there? Think about it. All the kids there are like smartie to me. Most of the parents wants their kids to excel so they will send them to enrichment programmes or tution.

I am not discouraging you, just want you to have an idea of what you will have to know before you make your decision.

All of her cousin was study in this school, positive feedback. That a reason for me wish to enrol her to Aitong school.

Maybe need to reconsider before make a decision. ๐Ÿ˜ข

          Dear Sefina,

Ai Tong is a good school, if you are staying within 1km , that will be easier to enrol her. Then, you will be moving to Duxton, in city. Where will your gal stay? Bishan or Duxton? Duxton will have to travel a long way. P1 and P2 is afternoon session, going school is no problem, coming back home traffic jam, think she will reach home about 7.45pm (earliest)
if you drive, much better about 7.30pm or so.

There are so many things to consider. My son went to sch at 11am by sch bus and only back home at 7.30pm. There was 1 time, sch bus broken down, he was only back home at 8.45pm. How?

Another thing, will you miss her if ahe is staying at Bishan and you ion Duxton?

Good to consider, meanwhile pls sign up to be a VP first.

          Good luck.

                Sefina,

first you have to see which phase you fall under. If you are under Phase 2B (thatโ€™s clan, parent volunteer, grassroots), distance may come into play. top priority: less than 1km; if thereโ€™s more spaces, then 1km - 2km, next 2km and above.

This distance thing will repeat in Phase 2C (ie unrelated to school).

Whatever spaces left from the earlier phases will be divided equally between 2B and 2C.

                  Dear Sefina,

Dont be a PV also can. You will also be able to enrol, your chance is higher than those who stay 2km.

I cant say you will be 100% into the sch, there are few phrase infront of you. All I can advise is your chance is high, provided there are not too many VP or people getting into the schools. Dont forget, there are ex-parents and now they want their kids in. Some will do volunteer at SHHK, some will ....... to get into the sch.

Since the enrichment is in Thomson, then it will be better for you to stay stay in the northern rather than city.

My son will have to wake up latest by 10am, fresh milk the lunch at 10.30am. 11am bus here. back home 7.30pm, dinner till 8pm. play rest talk etc. All activity will end by 10pm then zzzzz.

You didnt think about CCA! If you want her to sign up any enrichment programme in AiTong, then who will ferry her to sch? Do you drive? Sch bus dont have this facility yet.

Overall, what I can say is, AiTong is a good sch, to me education is the most important thing. Please discuss with your daughter, respect her decision. If she choose to be with you in Duxton, find a school there. If she is staying with grandparents, then let her study in AiTong.
