I can’t recall class size but it’s anything from 12 to 16. yes, I agree the teachers are generally helpful and I still remain impressed with them for being able to provide good feedback to parents. If a child has problems, the teacher may ‘catch’ hold of the parent to feedback; else parents can always speak to teacher after class to request for info.
Marking wise, at times they practise peer marking. eg spelling could be marked by their neighbours in class.
Oral. Kids are given a topic to prepare. I believe during class, teachers will also guide them on what to include. but I’m guessing here.

RE: All About Market Rates of Private Tutors
xueyan:
short answer: NOPE.Hi
May I know whether it is rude to ask the tutor her credentials? I asked one potential tutor and she asked me why i need to know. :?
Long answer. you are employing her to provide a service. when we work, we also have to furnish our credentials to our employers what. She may not have papers but she must be able to tell me in that case how she think she can help my child.
Anyone who refuses to furnish I would view very suspicious. -

Hi anyone has any feedback on teacher Yvonne or teacher Dione at amk branch? TIA
Why not let your child go for trial lessons with both teachers and see which he/she prefers? I may have seen Yvonne before but can't recall anything of concern. Dione seems to be a new name. (Note: my youngest DS just 'graduated' TAS) -

The CO will state very clearly what the child must score to make the cut. If the child scores below that, it's too bad. Offer will be invalid.
Recalled they only put in that child has to qualify for express stream (in my ds case). Definitely no indication of a magic Tscore number. -
RE: Key changes to exams and assessments
janet88:
So call it week 0 or week 1....any difference? Sorry, I'm confused.there should be KEY changes to the education system.
school started on 2/1/19 Wednesday. however, this is not considered term 1 week 1. however, it is term 1 week 0 :siao:
what's the rationale? p1s do not have exams anyway. march holidays will be starting 18/3 instead.
today is the beginning of week 3, which should be week 4. although i'm not the one attending school, I feel like it's forever
whose :censored: idea is it to have TERM 1 WEEK 0??? -

Seems the schools that clashed in the past will continue clashing. Expecting that there will be quite a few popular schools having open house on 25 May. Unfortunately that is probably the best way to see which school you prefer.
Thanks..praying hard open house dates don clash ! :lightrod: :thankyou: -

Thanks! Let’s say I apply for rulang primary school (<1km from my new place), and if I do not get in after balloting, do I join 2c supplementary phrase?
If you do not get a place in 2C, the next phase is to try again in Phase 2C Supplementary.
2C Supplementary will only be conducted in schools that have vacancies. I strongly suggest that you try for something that has a higher chances of success in 2C cos my impression is that schools in 2C supplementary is not that popular (for myriad reasons) - not say cannot, but your child will be in whatever school for the next 6 years, exercise your choices wisely.
All the best! -

But DSA don't take HCL bonus points into account - it's only the PSLE posting exercise that HCL will come in play?KAP:
I’m hoping to DSA into RI for my boy via Music Grade8 piano results. But I realise RI is not a SAP school, does it mean I Should have just let him take normal CL instead of HCL??
If your purpose of doing HCL was solely for the bonus points, then actually DSA to any school (SAP or non-SAP) will render those bonus points useless anyway. The bonus points are useful only for entry via T score. -
RE: All About Home Addresses
Huanglynn:
Believe that the current rules require you to stay at the address you use for registering for the next 30 months. Why not use the new address to register? It may not be on IC but you will have the Sales & Purchase agreement to back you up.Hello,
I would like to ask a question. My Son will be registering for P1 this year. However, we bought a property and will likely move in second half of this year. Can we use our current address to register for his primary school and move in to our new home after?
Thanks in advance! -

RI is not sap school but I think most boys do HCL anyway. -

Oh yes, she has loud booming voice. my DS is in p5 this year and hes quite weak so i hope she can help him.

I would advise that you check in with her and let her know if you have concerns. She is fairly accomodating and can move to address if for eg he is weak in a particular area etc.
