Can't decide? toss a coin and let fate decide
your kid said not able to decideverykiasu2010:
Choose RI because it is more accessible, and less jam and no flood at Bishan area. Campus on flat ground so less tedious as no need to go up and down slopes.
Choose HCI because Chinese culture and value system stronger.
Either school is fine. Dependent on kid's preference.
so what is your choice and why ? HCI got no flood lah, as for the slopes, your son is not same age as you right ? lol
HCI no flood but part of Bukit Timah flood will also cause jam and that area always jam with all the schs there.
My son no doubt young and have energy, but why waste energy and be so tired by end of day? Anyway, not likely to have this kind of good problem to solve, so no need to scratch head now :scratchhead:
The jam also not very scary what. It's from JC bus stop to high school one, if jam then alight at JC one la -

Just curious how many will choose a sec school because it is 'prestige' even though you do not like the culture or is in a distance away?
distance can be solved by moving house, or buying a second house .... -

well with all the mrt work going on in hci, it may just cave in one day. If i recall it had to be rebuilt in the mid 80s coz the bricks were falling off the building!

My son has his eyes set on RI but I prefer him to choose HCI for the following reasons:
1. Distance (I don't see the need to waste precious time on bus/train journeys nor do I have the financial muscle to buy a property near RI).
2. Mandarin speaking environment/strong emphasis on Chinese culture, given the rise of China and its influence in the next decades.
Just my $0.02 worth

It was actually because of structural problems of the JC section, having nothing to do with the chinese high shcool -

Just want to add in that:
RI is near MOELC if taking 3rd language.
HCI has a direct bus (156) to Bishan, unless choose to take 3rd lang at Ghim Moh.
