After waiting anxiously for the phone to ring these few weeks, especially when some DD's classmates have already attended NYGH's interviews; finally the call has come !! DD (mainstream) is being offered a confirmed place without interview and we will be attending a tea session with the Principal next Wed !! :celebrate:

        Hi ningy

Congratulation! Your DD must have scored very very well in SA1 that she is confirmed without interview. My dd is in gep but did badly in SA1. did not even get a chance for interview at NYHG. Conclusion, NYHG is fair, no prilvilege for GEP students.

My DD attended interview last wed, but I didn’t receive phone call today. Does that mean it’s a gone case?

          thx,

DD applied NYGH DSA via academics. Went to GAT (17/6) and no interview. I think the domain thing is for RGS or RI. NYGH simpler; just GAT (for mainstream) and no other selection test.

                Hi Ningy,

Just to confirm the GST test date is 17/7 right? instead of 17/6?

My personal experience on DSA, think twice before you accept.

We decided to try DSA route because our daughter’s performance is not consistent and she is in the range of above average. We gathered that should would get anywhere between 240-260. We saw our niece went through a bad experience when she got 240+. Where the girl can only be happy to be in the next best range, as the top ranges 255++. And staying in Bt Timah and wanting her to waste little in travel time means that her risk is high to get into one in the choice schools.

We went for 4 DSA. She was offered by SCGS only. She was naturally disappointed as she wanted to join her friends at NYGH. But we analyzed the risk and explain to her. So we accepted SCGS offer.

It was a pleasant surprised that she did well to qualify for NYGH. Then that started a terrible period of regrets and running around to appeal. Naturally everyone including her primary school principal and NYGH gave us a hard time. Their reasoning was that we deprived someone else of the seat at SCGS. We were put through silence waiting, interviews etc.

It ended well for us, we received the successful appeal in the afternoon of 31st December. But i would encourage all to think twice in the decision process. That period of time was really nerve cracking.

Yes, the spirit of the DSA is - your choice of school - you made the choice before PSLE

And having accepted the offer, why regret ? Because of higher actual t-score ? So, if the actual t-score is lower, can the school regret ? Obviously cannot ! Else there will be a huge outcry

DSA is a mutal commitment between the DSA school and the student. It is a two way street.

If you do not expect the school to regret the offer to the kid if the actual t-score is a flunk, can the school expect the kid to regret if the t-score qualifies for higher-cut-off school ?

You have been given the opportunity to reduce the uncertainty and accepted it. You are expected to keep your end of the commitment.

What value are we teaching the next generation ? Promises are meant to be broken ? What is honour ? If you signed a contract, you are expected to keep it.

Kids only ? The adults are making the decision for the kids. Let's not kid ourselves.

Has anyone applying for DSA under the sports domain heard from NYGH or DHS? I wonder if they’ve sent out their interview invitations for this domain?
