If you can get into this school, very good. If you cant, dont feel sad. In the east, there is Katong CHIJ right? That is also one of the \"hot\" school.

Can I ask how you want to get into the school?

Very true, these schools under the SHHK, the have the financial backup and the kids in the school will be able to enjoy the facilities and new gadgets. Very good exposure for kids. 1 thing I will have to let you know, most of the P1 are well prepared and they can cope quite well when they are in school. Which means, they are trained now in the Prep Class for P1.

As for the Chinese, they will be learning higher chinese. Not very tough but do expect the school will teach more than the text or syllabus.

Just to clarify, you mentioned prep class for P1. Did you mean prep class conducted by Tao Nan or these students attend some enrichment class outside to prepare for pr 1?

I juz got my SHHK membership recently and this is my only avenue to go under phase 2B as I work full time, no energy and time to do PV work! Think i will need to tape my mouth to prevent heart from jumping out the few days before knowing if can get recoomendation letter!

If can't get the letter, may try Ngee Ann Pri.

Sorry forget to elaborate Prep class for P1. It is outside enrichment. Please send your gal to one of the prep class. Need not to be those well known or expensive prep class. Just to prepare her and let her have the feel of what will happen in P1. Eg, Spelling; Grammer; Vocab; rearrange sentences etc. Maths will be 1 to 10, etc.

Hope I didnt frighten you with these prep class. They will only touch on the basic so to let the child know what will happen in P1 and very different from K2. Most child that enrol in the good sch especially, they are well prepared.

Hmm, if you have the SHHK membership, then no issue. You sure get in.
Dont give yourself so much pressure to get into the school. Can you try do something in SHHK when you have some free time? Perhaps it will helps. Tell you 1 thing, they dont really need donation, they want your time. As I mentioned earlier on, they have strong backup. Take your AL from work then help out. This will enhance in getting the letter.

As it’s too last minute to do anything, you will just have to hope the best that this year’s demand won’t be overwhelming.

By the way, do you stay < 1km from the school ?

newbie here. my whole family are baptised Methodist and we attend church regularly. However, we stay in punggol and my twins are a boy and a girl. What are the chances of them getting into ACS pri and paya lebar methodist school under phase 2B since we have church affiliation? The school said that even with church letter, the chance of us not getting a very strong since both schools are out of 2km. There are no christain school within 1 or even 2 km of my house… short of moving house… is there any other options for me?


Lastly, if i volunteer, do i have to do this twice since i have 2 kids going to P1 together?

Hi,

You will have to enrol to 2 different sch as a VP. But the chances of getting ACS is really very slim, maybe you have the chance but usually very tough. If you want to make things easy for you, which pri sch did you and hub graduate from. That will makes things easy and less time consuming.

For your gal, you can enrol her to CHIJ St Joseph or CHIJ Punggol
For your son, the nearest for you will be Roysth. These 3 schs are very popular.

Do consider if the kid can overcome pressureif you were to put them in top schs? How about travelling distance? Have you think about it?

Do consider carefully. My son is studying very far from home. B'cos I was working in oversea, hardly have time in singapore, so I enrol my son to my ex- pri sch. He got in but the distance is too far. Pressurise but he can still manage it well.
