So there isn’t any TV showing in the morning during the main curriculum time. The TV programme were shown in the evening while the kids are waiting for the parents to come. Am I correct?

May I know which level are your kids in? N2 or K1/K2? Is the Kinderland competitive and updated to prepare them well for P1?

My daughter is a Feb 2006 kid. She was placed in a PreN with mostly 2005 kids as she had certain 'strong' preferences with teachers and classmates. I cannot advise how well they prepared kids for P1 as she was not there in kindergarten level, what I can say is my daughter did pretty well while she was there. She managed to remember and understand countless of mandarin songs (we did not speak much mandarin at home), started to exchange meaningful conversations bilingually with us and could start doing 'discussions' with her class with longer attention span. Most of the time, she returned with big smile on her face and happy stories/happenings from school. I was and still pretty impressed with what the teachers had done with her.

My girl is also a 2006 baby but she is a Nov baby.

I enrolled my son to Kinderland @ MND, full-day.
He is 2005 kid, so he is placed in a Nursery class.

I am quiet happy to see him grow with kinderland and he also did pretty well there.

But I was wondering if the center only teaching Mandarin?
Because my son always sing the mandarin song, tell the mandarin story and name the thing in mandarin.

I remembered one day I saw an octopus picture and I show it to him.
I said: ' this is octopus.'
He replied me : 'mama, you cannot say octopus, you must say 八爪鱼..

And many more...

We speak mandarin quite often at home and I thought he can learn english in the center, but it's not that way..

I think I need to start to speak english often at home now... :roll:

I also noted that Kinderland seem to be a very "Chinese environment". Is that true in other centre? I also noted that there seem to be more PRC teachers around.

It is a interesting observation because I also realise that my nursery gg comes back with lots of chinese songs but little/ no english songs. She is attending Kinderland at MP.

I’ve 2 older kids in P2 and P1 now who went through the kinderland route from Pre-N to K2.

Actually, Kinderland is never known to be a preschool with strong chinese focus so I am quite surprised to hear that. There are however some watchouts if you are keen to lay a very solid chinese foundation in the child for P1. You probably need to consider other chinese enrichment programmes that have a strong focus on character recognition and hypy.

Another area is also phonics focus. Kinderland uses WTR (Write to Read) but I feel that the phonics focus is not very strong. Personally I feel that phonics is very important as it lays a good foundation for reading and spelling. So if the child is not strong phonetically, this will potentially become challenging.

I am probably those type of mums who will send my kids for enrichment classes despite the preschool they attend. Despite the comments above, I still choose kinderland because the kids love kinderland and it helped develop children who enjoys school, learning and are confident.

Hi i'm a mummy from Marine Parade. I got 2 choices which is nearby my house. Kinderland @ Marine Parade & Twinkle Star Montessories (Opposite NTUC). Any feedback or experience to share. Like cover of phonics/math/teacher... I scare to make a wrong choice for my gal.
