I am considering sending my boys to Nan Hua Pri since my hubby is an alumini of the school. However, (1) the school seems to have a rather low profile compare to schools like Henry Park, Nanyang Pri, ACS etc. Thus wonder how good it is and (2) my boys' Chinese Language is really bad. Wonder whether they will feel out of place in a SAP school or maybe I should send them to a more 'angmoh' school like ACS or SJI Junior.

        My dear,

This is indeed a good school. How good the school is, if the kids refuse to study, the results will not be good.

It take everyone to put in their effort and duty. Hope you can understand.

Angmo schools speaks mainly english, so are all these chinese sch.
If you have time, go to the school and find out. My kid is also from a non angmo sch, but they speak very good english. Their chinese and mandarin also perfect. Dont forget, China market is what the next generation will be targeting at. Once they are in the school, they will follow suit. Peers influences are greater than us.

No worries, look back to your old days in school, did you speak english or mandarin more or depends on who you mix?

Academic wise, Nan Hua is also on par. All depends very much on the child and family. We cant rely everything on the teachers or Home tution.
Very much is the contribution from family and peers.

        Consider properly.

        Take care

          hi ysy,

you could have use http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?t=358&start=0 thread 😉
many parents would have love to be in your shoes..ie having priority to enrol in Nan Hua.
Unless you have church affiliations and guaranteed a place in ACS or SJIJ, it is safer to just go for Nan Hua. Unless of course Nan Hua is far away from where you stay and the distance is bugging you.

              Isn't commonwealth closest to clementi?
if so, http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?t=358&start=0 are the schools available.

You may consider New Town Primary around Commonwealth area. They merged with Ghim Moh Primary & now offering single session! If not, Queenstown would be also another good option.

My son is born in 2004. I wanted to arrange for him to go Nan Hua but we will have to do PV there, thus will be opting for Clementi Primary School instead as my husband was from Clementi North Pri which merged with Clementi Pri some years back.

One question I have is, is it worth to have my husband to sign up as alumni in Clementi Pri Sch since we can register my son under ‘parent is an old boy’ scheme. Will he get a chance if we register him under this phrase, or under the other phrase, whereby the parent is an alumni member? We do not stay in Clementi but my PIL are, so we are thinking of arranging for him to attend at this sch.

Old boy + alumni = phase 2A1. Old boy without alumni = 2A2. Based on past years trends, all applicants under both 2A1 and 2A2 get a place in all schools. Hence there is no necessisty to join the alumni actually. But true to the KS spirit, u may want to join to give urself peace of mind in case there is a sudden surge in applications?

Luanee, thanks for your reply. I was also thinking of asking my husband to join alumni to have this pc of mind, but his pri has merged with Clementi Pri after he left, thus not sure if its appropriate to join alumni of this sch. I think I will have to contact the sch to check it out. Still planning if I should go for this neighbourhood sch, or Rulang in JW.
