        Hey,
I was researching on parties recently and a fren's fren's company (Ministry of Games) does this!

I heard from another parent that they are good with group games for kids and have this cool goodie bag idea thingy.... if i'm not wrong, they ordered happy meal for the whole class too and her son's birthday was at a childcare ctr! just sounds so much like what you are looking for.....

their website is http://www.ministryofgames.sg or you can call 8444 1398

        hope this helps!

          Hi Smurf,

for your child’s preschool friends, one way is to pass the BD invitations to the teacher to distribute to his friends (usually the teachers would be kind to explain to the kids what they need to do - show their mummies, etc, etc). Request for RSVP from parents - you will be surprise that response would be spontatneous!!!

          Happy Celebrating!!!

Planning a party for my P3 this december as she rarely get to celebrate and this is the 1st time she is inviting her friends over.

What are the food suggestions? We will be doing home cook stuff. Eg. fried bee hoon, fried rice, fish balls, chicken wings, nuggets, hot dog, sandwiches. Any other suggestions....

In terms of activities, I am getting someone to do 1.5hr magic, puppet and balloon sculpting.

Thinking of having a pinata too... still exploring where to tie to. Never had one and looks like lots of fun. What do we stuff them with????

Also, iso of party bags. We are thinking of having a lucky draw. All kids will go back with a prize.

            Any other ideas....

Not forgetting doing up the place with party decors stuff. Sounds like a great deal of fun 😉

              Hi MMM,

You can stuff them with lots of candy and little cute things like small notebooks, stickers etc.

I did that for my older girl's birthday when she was 5 and her friends all loved it.

You can actually also rent candy floss and popcorn machines and the kids simply love it.

Have lots of fun! Your child is only young once, when they are younger it is easier to plan cos they are tickled and charmed by almost anything.

My kid's 8th birthday is coming soon, and I am planning a birthday party for him & another 15 kids. We kidnda do this every year.. so balloons and clowns were boring to them already!!

I came across this website offering English Language games using Velcro alphabets & tee shirts, and I was thinking of hiring them to conduct games during the party. I think it is rather interesting because it is not the usual mundane clowns & balloons although I can't deny that kids would love these.

Here is the link of the website: http://www.creativekits.sg

Do tell me what all of you think! Should I hire them? or do you guys have a better suggestion

                Many thanks!

I am unsure, but there was once this article in Time Out Singapore that I read in RWS some of the best places to hold your kid's birthday party. Here are my top six choices that your kid's birthday party could be held in. In no order of ranking, here it is.

                    1. eXplorerKid
The largest indoor playground on the island boasts separate play features for toddlers, as well as bigger kids. The trick is to sign up as an eXplorerkid member for a minimal fee so as to score the discounted price of $24.40 per head for the two-hour birthday packages – they throw in unlimited playtime, goodie bags (party poppers only), sculpted balloons, snacks (for kids only) and a party host. $24.40 per child (eXplorerkid members), minimum 15 kids (ages 12 and below). Level 3, E!hub@Downtown East, 1 Pasir Ris Cl (6589 1668,

                    2. Pit Parties
This 2.5-hour military-style obstacle course party – think mud banks and rope swings – is for kids who don’t mind getting their hands dirty. They say it’s for children six and up, but smaller-framed kids may have difficulties rising to some of the challenges. With a coach on hand to supervise, all you need to do is supply the grub, as food is not included in the price. $495 for groups of 20 children; $100 extra for up to 10 additional kids (ages 6 and above). #02-05 Turf City, 200 Turf Club Rd (6468 9851, http://www.centaursgroup.com).

                    3. Ben & Jerry's

This United Square outlet is where you get the scoop on the coolest, creamiest birthday party treats in town. Pick from waffle bowl-making (for 5- to 7-year-olds), chocolate waffle cone-making (for 7- to 10-year-olds) or ice-cream cake decoration (for 10-year-olds and above). Head to the Dempsey branch if you have a group of more than 15 kids. Warning: an ice cream bash is going to set you back at least $40 nett per head. $40-$55 per child, minimum 10 kids (ages 5 and above). #02-K1 United Square, 101 Thomson Rd (6732 6996, http://www.benjerry.com.sg).

                    4. Leisure Park Kallang Ice Rink
At Singapore’s largest ice skating rink, a party package buys you a party room and skating shoes for two hours, with the added option of booking a coach for $100-$200 per half-hour (depending on level). However, gloves, socks and jackets are not provided, and neither is party food. You may want to consider the neighbouring KFC; only finger food is permitted for catering. $20 a child, minimum 15 kids (ages 4 and above). 5 Stadium Walk (6348 1123, http://www.leisurepark.com.sg).

                    5. Climb Adventure
Active kids who enjoy a bolder challenge will love the two-hour, climb-all-you-want birthday party at SAFRA Adventure Sports Centre in Yishun. Twenty climbing harnesses are provided and four trainers will be on duty to supervise the climb. No special gear is required – just come in your sports attire (and hardy sport shoes). Food, yet again, is not included but there’s a café in the SAFRA building for the kids to grab a bite after the calorie-burning exercise. $17.50 a child, minimum 20 kids (ages 5 and above). 60 Yishun Ave 4 (6852 8200, http://www.safra.sg or send an email for further information).

                    6. Forest Adventure
Located within Bedok Reservoir Park, kids would have the chance to try out high elements courses. The Kids Course package is available for $800 for twenty children. The package includes 90 minutes on the obstacle course, two dedicated instructors, 20 themed birthday invites + envelopes, a themed birthday cake and candle, free-flow fruit juice and water along with twenty gift vouchers for the guests. The Grand Course is available for braver children at $500 for six. In both cases, the birthday child would get a free Forest Adventure tee-shirt.

                        Hi,

Want to share about my kids' recent birthday party.
Our friends had a great time and most didn't know that the HDB multi-purpose halls can be rented at such a great price, so I thought of sharing about it here.

Before the party, here are some preparations I had to undertake.

                        Venue
I was afraid that I could not get the venue on the special date I wanted, so I called up the town council for the availability of the date first. When it was confirmed available, I went down to the nearest HDB Branch Office to pay up and fill in a simple form.

It costs only $20 to rent the multi-purpose hall (MPH) for an entire day. Add $10 if you want electricity and another $10 if you want water supply. I added both because I wanted music and I had many water game stations. I also needed to wash and clean stuff. This cost is also for the entire day of usage.

There are several MPHs near my area. I chose the one that was the most beautiful, taking in mind the guests who would take plenty of pictures, so I wanted one with lush greenery in the background.

The one I chose was also away from the main roads and multi-storey carpark, so it would be safer and quieter for the kids. It happened to be near a playground, a basketball court, and an open field full of shady trees. There were car park lots around the area as well (those loading/ unloading ones) as well as stroller-friendly and disabled access ramps, and a shelter there. There was ample space for the caterer and the rental company trucks too.

                        Food
In previous parties when I entertained in my home, I would do most of the cooking/ preparation. But this time, since we were renting the MPH, I could have many more guests and thus we decided to use a caterer. We engaged Orange Clove for a simple lunch reception.

From the response, I can tell that the satay was the most popular because that dish was emptied first, and the least popular was the egg mayo and cheese sandwich.

Besides what the caterer provided, I also bought soft drinks like Coke and Sprite, and Green tea. For nibbles, I had chips, raisins, marshmallows. To boost the \"health factor\", we also had watermelon slices, and another fresh fruit dessert.

For the candle-blowing segment, I decided on cupcakes because our guests consisted of many young kids, so it was more convenient for the little ones to feast on.

3 days before the party, I started to bake the cupcakes in batches so that I ended up with about 100 of the chocolate cupcakes. Then, the day before, the party, I made my own icing and iced all the 100 cupcakes, and sprinkled colourful stars and bits on them. Most of the stuff I used were purchased from Phoon Huat.

                        http://s3.postimage.org/2i20baiv8/cupcakes.jpg\">

                        Pinata

A week before the party, I went about buying the goodies to be stuffed into the pinata.

                        These included:
edible things: strawberry and grape candies, raisins, gummi bears, rice crackers, marshmallows

other stuff: small boxed jigsaw puzzles, animal foam stickers, googly eye stickers

Initially I wanted a theme for the party but because I could not find other party stuff to match the theme (plates and utensils, decorations and party bag fillers), I gave up on having that theme.

Hence, I made a simple goldfish pinata. It involved having a cardboard box that was filled with all the goodies, then taped simply with clear tape across 4 parts just to seal the box and make sure the goodies don't fall out while I wrap the box up.

I have made pinatas that involved smashing them open with a bat in previous parties. But this time, the party involved many more toddlers, so I decided on a ribbon-pull pinata instead.

I taped the ribbons to the inside flap of the box. These ribbons have to be secure because they would be tugged really hard when the kids pull on them. I used different coloured ribbons and different lengths for the kids with different heights.

After that, I wrapped the box with wrapping paper, and then stuck the fins, tail, and big eyes on the box. Make sure the ribbons are hanging out of the box.

Finally, I attached raffia string to the top of the \"goldfish\". This would be tied to suspend the pinata on that day.

                        http://www.postimage.org/

                        Other fun stuff

Music is a must for a lively and spontaneous party. The moment we started blaring the CDs, all the kids were dancing and jiving away. Even the babies were swaying from side to side.

We downloaded some tracks from amazon.com to fit in with the theme, and then played some kid-friendly music. One of the CDs had several guests asking me for the title, so I'll share that here. It's called the \"Latin Playground\" by Putumayo.

In the past, sometimes I organised all the games and craft activities for the party too, especially when my oldest boy was younger. However, I found that it left me with little time to mingle with the adult guests since I was so busy entertaining the kids!

Hence, now I usually leave it more unstructured. Also, my eldest is older now and sometimes he will lead the games for the younger ones.

I rented some ride-ons and playground sets from the Toy Rental Club. The kids had a blast riding them all over the basketball court and on the paths leading to the MPH.

We also had a bathtub full of water play toys, and a Splash sprinkler water inflatable set up on the grassy patch beside the hall. The kids descended on it in a frenzy. The picture below was taken when this guest was enjoying himself alone.

                        http://www.postimage.org/

This one below shows 2 other guests using the twin taxi ride-on to pretend they were rubbish collectors. 🙂

                        http://www.postimage.org/

I also had a bubble machine from Toys R Us (my own) set up to provide a constant stream of big and small bubbles. This was a hit with everyone, but the youngest ones (babies to toddlers) love them the most!

                        http://www.postimage.org/

Finally, I feel that it was very good value for money. And it was such a cinch to clean up, since we just hosed down our high chairs and toys right there after the whole thing.
