      Hi

My son score 235 and my wife is very disappointed with his results (at a pt she would not want to know what Sec sch he is going to choose now … sigh)

Anyway, I would appreciate if anyone could help me to see if the following choices are OK:

      1st: Chung Cheng (Main)
      2nd: St. Andrew
      3rd Tanjong Katong Secondary

Is it OK to try for SJI?

      Thanks

        Hi,

What are the recommended secondary school choices for T-score of 218? I'm staying in Bukit Panjang area. Is it worthwhile to try a school with a COP of around 225? Does it help if the pupil has participated in many ECAs when it comes to appeal to entry?
        Many thanks
Seriously I won't take the risk to try for a school with 225 as COP if my T-score is 218. A bit risky in my opinion. 1 to 2 points is okay, but 7 points is a bit risky.

Yes, CCA plays a part when it comes to appeal cases, but then again, it also depends of what CCA and if that CCA is what the choice school is looking for. You have to go and do some homework in that aspect. Check out what sort of CCAs are strong in that particular school first before you consider appealing but a word of caution, the appeal process is very stressful both for the parent and the child.

Tell him that this is not the end of the race... that he has a few more opportunities to 报仇雪恨.

how to? even 10 A1 from a non-IP school can't get into top JC. when is a good opportunity to 报仇? :?

Good results only mean one gets an easy way into civil service, doesn't mean much once that person is out in the working world. I know of pp who didn't get high grades, but are now making bundles of money.

So Jieting, tell your son to brace up. PSLE is only 1 small hurdle - road is still long.[/quote]I second that because outside world do not look at you PSLE results but it is whether you can work.

            True, true...some encouraging true cases.

PSLE score -(1) 228 Riverside sec , Anderson JC, NUS
            (2) Choa chu Kang Sec, Pioneer JC, SMU
            (3) Christchurch sec, Anderson JC, NUS

The future is still as bright....don't let the PSLE score be a stumbling block.
The best is yet to be . 😉
            All the best. :celebrate:

Tell your wife that 235 is a good score. It is already above national average. Believe the national average hovers aroung 230 every year, plus and minus.

From your choices, I figured that you are somewhere in the East. How about Maris Stella and Nan Chiau? Both are within your score.

I would say 235 is a bit risky for SJI. Their COP was 241 last year, but yet I have heard of people appealing and entering with 231 a few years back.

I recalled this student from CJC who obtained 197 for his PSLE, went on to secure 11 points (L1R5) for his GCE O levels, 4 As and 4 Bs for his GCE A Levels and is currently a medical student at NUS. Go check out the CJC website if anyone doubts this.

Consider this a minor setback; set your mind on doing well and nothing can beat hardwork and focus. All the best.
