hi, tks for the input. ACSI is too far. btw, will it jeopardize his chance if a school is placed as 2nd/3rd choice? the admittance to school is based on merit (score) or order of choices? let's say HCI cop is 257, will a boy with 257 and put HCI as 1st choice has priority over someone with 259 but put HCI as 2nd choice?
My understanding is that the boy with 259 gets to choose FIRST (ahead of all others who scored lower than him). So in all likelihood, the boy with 259 is more likely to get HCI even though it's his second choice.
You should put RI as first choice. There's no harm. If he doesn't get RI he'll be considered for his 2nd/3rd choice etc. You can also consider ACSI.jtoh:
Hi all,
My ds is 258+1 and in GE, he was pretty disappointed with the result. his classmate is the nation's top performer this year.
he is very keen in RI as his 1st choice, but considering the last few years cop, personally I think it's not very safe. i prefer HCI or NJC as the 1st choice instead. any suggestion?
tks -
My boy scored 229. I am staying at Bishan, have studied and shortlisted a few schools and will appreciate if anyone can feedback on the value-addedness of following schools especially with regards to quality and attitudes of teaching staff & students.
Hoping that he can go somewhere where he can be motivated to perform well academically and morally. (In bracket are the COP for Sec One 2010, 2009)
Presbyterian High (229, 232)
Ang Mo Kio Sec (227,227)
Mayflower Sec (222, 222)
Riverside Sec (is this rather far from Bishan MRT?) (229, 229)
Chung Cheng High Yishun (230, 230)
Beatty Sec (217,217)

I have an aggregate score of 262, can someone please advise me on which school to choose. Raffles Institution or ACSI. I have been accepted for DSA into ACSI, but I am wondering if I should cancel it and go into RI. Help me to compare these two schools and tell me the pros and cons. Your opinions are greatly appreciated. Thank you.
I dont really recommend R.I. I would recommend you National Junior College instead. My senior is in that school and she told me it was a fabulous school and it has IP programme too -
thanks alwayskiasu!

My child has secured 268. Preferes RI. Could give some choices?
second choice ACS or NJC. Does the child have chance for RI? -

Besides the different culture, environment, etc, please NOTE that ACS(I) offers the IB whereas RI offers the GCE A at the end of the IP. That's 2 very different examination you will be takingPolar bear:

So anyone who's ranked above your son will get to exercise his choice first, regardless of whether it's his 1st choice, 2nd choice etc. Similarly, your son will get to exercise his choice before those ranked below him. So if he doesn't get his first choice of RI, he will get his 2nd choice etc before the computer moves down to the person ranked after him. -
