Hey I got 261+2 for my PSLE and I'm planning whether to go to RI or DHS, can somebody give me advice on where I should go? Yr advice will b greatly appreciated as my previous posts were all left unanswered thx

Your +2 does not work for RI.
Last year RI COP was 262, so it is high risk for you.
DHS COP was 260, you have a better chance since it is SAP school, then your score will be 263.

DHS COP was 258, not 260.
Sorry maid, for both cases, I was looking at COP 2008 PSLE.
ok RI COP 2009 PSLE was 259 and DHS COP 2009 PSLE was 258. Still, your chances better at DHS due to the +2.

Can anyone tell me how the environment is like in RGS and NYGH? Your replies will be greatly appreciated:D Tks:D

RGS highly competitive. NYGH nurturing. No good or bad, depends which one makes your child tick.

What's your definition of many?

maybe 20 out of the entire cohort of 400 ?

you are trying to create an impression of a mass migration ...

You were right that HCJC was ranked the top JCs for many years, until RJC came about and it become top till IP started.

For the past 20-30 years, The Chinese High School and Nanyang Girls High School hardly produced more than 5 president scholars (total) but HCJC managed to produce one of the highest number of president scholars among all JCs. You go and figure where the students came from? It is not hard to think that at least a few came from schools like RGS and RI.

For me, if there are 30-50 students, and they happened to be outstanding, it is sufficient to give an impression of \"many\".

HCJC produced the most President Scholars is because it is one of the olderest JC around as compared to RJC which only started in 1982.

You need to compare apples to apples. If you add up the number of years that RJC was RI Pre-U (predecessor), you would have realise that RJC/RI would be 1st lah.

The fact that there wasn't 30-50 as you claim...even that is not consider many out of a cohort of 400 for RI and 400 for RGS =800.

who you trying to kid ?
HCJC being one of the oldest JC can't alone account for the fact that it produced the most president scholars. There must be quite alot of good students from other good secondary schools (such as RI and RGS) to account for it. As I have said, TCHS and NYGS don't produced more than 5 for the last 20-30 years. The other dozens that HCJC have produced must come from other secondary schools...evrybody can go and figure which other secondary schools can produce so many president scholars.

My daughter got 226 for psle. Is it wise for me to put my top 6 choice as

1. nan chiau
2. Chong Cheng
3.Katong Convent
4.Tkgs
5.Tks
6.tamasek?

Thanks πŸ˜„

Sry, so just wanna ask again, is it wise for me to choose those choice of school?

Do you mind if I were to tell you the truth? :? The truth hurts, but I feel that you have made very unrealistic choices based on your score of 226, unless of course, there was a typo error and you had 236 instead of 226. I am assuming no typo error and that your score is 226.

My reasons - will touch on a school by school basis :

Nan Chiau - COP 231 but you have 226. I know that Nan Chiau is becoming a SAP school soon, but I am not sure if the HMT points takes effect with this year's PSLE cohort, but EVEN if they do take that into consideration, your enhanced T-score of 228 is a bit off from Nan Chiau's 231.

CCHM - COP 236, even higher than Nan Chiau's so if you cannot get into Nan Chiau, what are the chances of getting into CCHM with a higher COP than Nan Chiau?

CHIJ Katong - COP 228. You are 2 points off from CHIJ Katong's COP. CHIJ Katong is not a SAP school, so the 2 points HMT cannot be used, so you will be entering with 226. Okay, 226 is only 2 points off the COP, can try, but no guarantee.

TKGS - COP 233. Same senario as Nan Chiau and CCHM. If you cannot even get into Nan Chiau with a COP of 231, how is it possible to get into TKGS with 226, which is 7 points from their COP.

TKSS - COP 234. Same senario as NCH, CCHM and TKGS.

Temasek - COP 230. Again very unrealistic for a score of 226. Yes, Temasek's COP dropped from 232 to 230, but even with 230, you are 4 points off.

So my advice is to exercise your 6 choices VERY, VERY carefully! Do not anyhow dump and waste your choices. You will regret it.

Thanks! but there are no choices in the east side except those.:( I am appealing for my top 2 choice of school. since both schools are asking for my CCA. choosing school is a headache...

Seriously, it is not that big a headache if you exercise your choices wisely. One has to be realistic with the choices, otherwise, it's regrets all the way .... Sorry, I hope I am not sounding too harsh here.
