In yr case you can try and place Cresent Girls as second choice.
Go to SCGS' office and register yr dd's interest. Yr case is special as yr dd has strong dance foundation and plays squash-traits that SCGS is looking for. Anw, Crecent is aslo pretty good.
or it can be done anytime now ?
What's this abt going to the sch and register your interest? A friend strongly encouraged me to do tt too..?? You mean you'll be given priority as you show great interest and commitment by your presence? -

Appeal can be done now. However, result will only be known after s1 posting results. In yr dd’s case, school will conduct a trial either dance or squash depending on their needs.
Understand yr deliema as u can only place Cedar, St. Nicks or SCGS as 1st choice. That makes yr 2nd choice critical hence my suggestion to place Crescent as yr no 2. -
pecalis
Its only registration of interest. School has an appeal committee to consider all appeal candiates after the closing date. Its never a first come priority. -
Hi my daughter scores 247 with merit in HML, if we put cedar as first choice,(last year 246) any change to get in, do we need to write appeal letter now.
Hope can get into Cedar, i understand this year, most of the student scores quite good. may be the cut off point will goes up. -
Hi augmum,
In your opinion, do my top three choices make sense?
Tks -

Yr case go ahead place Cedar Girls as top choice. U hve 70% chance as nothing is certain. Choose yr 2nd choice wisely. -
Hi, I would appreciate some advice. My son scores 236 for his PSLE and 2 bonus points for HMT. Any good suggestions? My preliminary choices are:
1) Anglican High
2) Nan Chiau High
3) Xin Min
4) Chung Cheng High (Main)
5) Ngee Ann Sec
6) Temasek Sec / Tanjong Katong Sec -

NJC probably has its in-house programme but it's not an SBGE (in that it's not recognized as an SBGE by MOE.)
Erm, but NJC curriculum is it's own SBGE programme already. There are students in last year's batch who couldn't cope and actually left in year 2 for MGS instead. It does have accelerated programmes on top of it's usual curriculum, but the students have to be identified for those.jtoh:
Possibly NJC, but that's co-ed and they do not offer SBGE. The other alternative is SCGS which also offers SBGE. -

Top 10% only if they are offered French/Jap/German. Everyone is offered Cat 1 & 2 of third language, provided they did MT in PSLE.I was calculating my DS's ranking in Singapore... Just to confirm that Top 10% of the cohort are being offered 3rd category in the third Language or are they offered third language?

Just a note that dance at SCGS is of a very high standard. Just Grade 5 alone isn't enough. You have to have very good performing abilities and some of the girls by Sec One are already en pointe. The girls also do more than ballet - tap, chinese dance and jazz are de rigeur. In any case, they've already taken in their dancers during DSA.INNOVATE:
On Cedar and SCGS
Academically, they are both on par. Perhaps, one should decide base on ccas, distance and school fees. In the area on academic, Cedar has maintained its consistency thru many years . Generally, its girls are well-behaved, intelligent and hard working. My son takes notice of these positive traits(JC). School is pretty strong in atheletics.
SCGS seems to have brighten up lately base on their last yr O-LEVEL results. Is amongst the tops nationwide in english, literature and maths. Generally the girls hve a high command of english. Due to their exposure to different styles of writing, its girls hve performed well both in A-level and IB. Its niche ccas are dance, squash and gymnastic.
So btw these two schools, is a very close call.

If yr dd likes SCGS, can place the school as top choice and prepares her for appeal. Make sure yr second choice is marginally below her T-score.
my girl does ballet grade 5 and squash , but her t score 247 , cop for scgs is 251, risky to put as 1st choice and appeal?
