River Valley High School [*IP]

Chem, E & A maths are mandatory. Of course, LA, chinese & singapore studies. So can choose 1 more science + 1 elective science + one humanity. Or 1 science & 2 Humanities. Bicult or non bicult. Quite a good range to choose. I also cannot remember all combis.

E & A maths is under ONE maths only, ie only 1 maths and not 2. There is also a CID.

HI
i am not sure if this is the right place to post my queries, but hopefully existing RV students or parents with kids in RV can help…
My ds scored 255 +2 and we stayed in Toa Payoh.
I would like him to get into IP school and he himself is keen. but problem is , his score is borderline case. However, we r pretty sure that he should be able to get into rv if we put it as one of the choices. We went to the open house and was impressed with the school facilities, programmes and the students. but main concern is the distance. it is about an hour’s journey from Toa Payoh to Boon Lay. I am hoping the new circle line can cut down the travelling time but there is no where to find the infor ie what is the travelling if we take the circle line from toa payoh to boon lay.
so, would really appreciate for some advices. is it worth the travelling time to go to RV or i shouldn’t consider rv but choose Catholic high instead? some pple i talked to said travelling time is not the main consideration if it is a good school we are talking about but others eg my husband thinks that it is "cruel" of me to make him travel for 1 hour to and fro for 6 years.

Not sure if the school bus has pick up from Toa Payoh, maybe you can check with the vendor, Say Guan Transport. You can get the details from RV website. But its only one way, in the morning.
I do now of students from RV staying in the East, Pasir Ris. Its really up to individual.
What is your child's preference? Some kids, when they love a school, nothing would stop them. It depends on how deep his \"love\" is for the school is he willing to sacrifice on certain things to get to his dream school.
