Why not choose a school that suit your child learning pace and enjoy her Sec school life? Cheers.

Hi, wanted to but my girl insisted on schools with aggregates of 183 and above such as Hai Sing and Pasir Ris Crest.

      Thanks for your advices.

Your daughter score 171 and want to apply schools with Lower COP 183 and above?

If this is true, I am afraid your daughter is going to be disappointed. Each year, the lower COP may drop (or increase for the popular schools). But to drop from 183 to 171, i doubt it will happen.

If your girl is talented in Sports or Performing Arts, she can check with the school whether she can \"appeal\" in using sports or performing arts. Otherwise, I would recommend that she apply to a school that suit her
pace, study hard and get good results, then apply to a school that she wants in end Sec 1 or end Sec 2.

DS score 252 with HCL pass. Should I consider ACS(I) (COP 250) first choice or Victoria School (COP 245) ?

My main concern is the distance as we are staying in the east.

I want to go to Cedar Girls but I doubt that I would get in…

Hi all need some advice. DS scored 234 and has affiliation to ACS(Barker Road). Is it wise to give up the affiliation? He has made the following choices:

1st Tanjong Katong Sec (COP 234)
              2nd Temasek Sec (230)
              3rd Maris Stella (232)
              4th Chung Cheng (236)
              5th St Andrew (233)
              6th St Patrick (225)

what are the schools u would recommend if staying ard Serangoon North(near to Hougang+Ang Mo Kio Ave 3)?
Considering Pierce but COP 206-208…other choices are Guang Yang COP 203, Serangoon Garden(coz it’s nerest, but so far heard that it’s not very good), Chong Boon & Yio Chu Kang…any comments/advice?? Thanks in advance!!

You can try putting Pierce as 1st choice, although high chance your child may not get in, unless the lower COP drops from 206 to 203 this year.

Assume you lose the chance to get into 1st choice, then you must choose the 2nd choice carefully.

You may want to check this person posting in another thread (http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6032&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=520).
The person recommended few good schools. You may want to consider them. But pls note the schools are near Bishan.

                  1) Bishan Park - (COP 188, Mean 201, Med 200) This sch also value adds express students. Supposed to be centre of excellence for art, so their art and music programme quite strong.

                  2) Whitley (COP 195, Mean 205, Med 204) - I ever asked a boy from that sch if he likes the sch. He's from the express stream. He said that other than the perception that the school is not great and everything, he still generally likes the sch. I also asked if he had a chance to choose schs again, would he pick this sch and he said he would.

                  3) Bartley Sec - (COP 193, Mean 204, Med 203, Band 9 Sch for Exp, Band 5 for Normal) This sch seems to perform better than most as it has more stars in the academic value-add category for both express and normal. Besides the mean and median is not far from your child's score, making your child the avg kid in sch.

                  ++++
Personally when I choose school, I will also look at the subjects that the school offered for Sec 3. I realised that for Guangyang (COP 203, Mean 209, Med 207) for 2010, there are 1 Triple Pure Science class, 2 Double Pure Science classes. If your child like Science, then I think Guangyang is another good choice.

Solrry but I have no idea about the remaining 3 schools: Serangoon Garden, Chong Boon & Yio Chu Kang.

Have you consider schools in Yishun? You may want to check out NorthBrooks.

Hope the info is useful 🙂
