Engineering will be dominated by IC industry. Which stands for Indian-Chinese. Because their pay demand is much much lower.. :stupid:Agree with you that Engineering has lost its attractiveness because the traditional engineering fields like electronics, mechanical and civil will become less important when we become more developed. However they are still crucial for maintaining the existing infrastructure.
Moving up the (business) value chain will be research works in engineering and new fields of engineering. Afterall, technology advancement shall never stop. In the process, new jobs and discoveries will prevail.
Coming back to engineering, the traditional manufacturing sector and their supporting industries can only exist in Batam, China, Vietnam and Thailand for next century. However the creation activities meaning the ideas and IP, research (new discoveries) and improvements to existing methods/techniques are where engineering fields in Singapore should concentrate on. It is not going to be easy nor difficult just need focus and right emphasise. In our case specific government body play a vital role.
Sorry to be so long winded because i am an engineer myself and I am in the midst of experiencing these changes too. -

Is that why u are in full time tuition serivce? I knew someone who went into engineering though not his first choice but years later after working some years had enough saving, he proceeded to Australia to fullfill his dream to become a doctor.:stupid:

I am in RI right now, and I feel that if your son is GEP and has good prospects of entering the school, he should try prepare out of curriculum. It gets quite boring to teach students that same stuff, and therefore teaching them how to do Olympiad level math and science should do well enough.
There is no preparation as schools assume you know nothing and are a fresh learner. Just relax; preparation is less important than PSLE. >< -

Does anyone explain me how about the streaming in nsecondary school?When they enter they will be streamed or in secondary 2 will be streamed.
How will they stream?

Special/express, normal(academic),normal(technical)
How they different in taking subjectswise? -
ok i undestood from wikipedia, from PSLE results they will be streamed,isn’t it?
But I didn’t understand that special kids can take higher mother tongue.Is that they should take HMT in PSLE only allow to take in secondary?
