Something that students might possibly be interested is that NH’s classrooms have air conditioning…

Do you mean ALL NH's classrooms are air-conditioned or selected classrooms? If yes, this is unusual for a government secondary school if all classrooms are air-conditioned? Care to elaborate more?
Thks. -
Vanilla Cake:
that is interesting. i am curious too. if indeed all classrooms r air conditioned, wouldn't it mean much higher bills for the school? and probably less funds for academic n enrichment programmes? afterall school has to work within budget given by MOE. doubt MOE is going to give more budget for the aircon bills.loler12:

Yes. ALL classrooms have air-conditioning. 2 aircons in a class. Chairman of each class would be given one aircon control, and you can choose to turn it on or off anytime. However, the aircon would not operate before 8pm, and would off automatically after 2.30pm ( sch dismissal ).

Thks, justsay for the helpful information.
Perhaps, it's some form of compensation from the contractors to compensate for the school due to noise pollution.Do you think that the NH students will able to continue to have the privilege of having air-conditioning for all the classrooms after works from construction site nearby have been completed? -
Vanilla Cake:
the contractors definitely did not compensate the school, no need to do so as they have not broken any law. i think the issue for the school is the recurring aircon bills which can be huge. budget is finite...so they have to cut down some activities/programmes if they r to foot the big aircon bills yearly.justsay:

if due to this and academic/enrichment programmes r affected then i would rather send my child to another school with better activities/programmes rather than just to have the aircon comfort.
with the new IPO schools, i think NHH is going to face even more competition. -

Thanks.

I have been studying 1 year in NH so far and there were many enrichment programmes organised. We learnt ' di xi gui ' that instil moral values in students and how to appreciate chinese culture such as chinese caligraphy and chinese painting in my sch. all sec 1 students also have to undergo some kind of student leadership programme which is compulsory. Also, NH also organise some events such as Maths and Science week ( if im not wrong ) and major events such as our annual Sports Carnival and Mid Autmn Festival ( which we set up a stall to sell stuff like drinks, tibits )
Academic wise, rest assured as teachers would call for the class to stay back to give them the last push for their exams or tests, or simply just for revision. That is, only provided by hardworking and dedicated teachers ( which you can't really blame NH for that ). Besides, NH teachers would also distribute materials which are made by the respective HOD departments. they would also give out past year's paper for practice
Hence, from the different programmes organised, i dun think NH is cutting down on any programmes.
