Congratulations to all the parents of new Victorians! You have made the decision we made one year ago and we've never regretted our decision. VS has been a positive influence on him. He has taken a liking to sports (from being completely disinterested). I have heard him as well as the other Victorians address teachers as 'sir' and 'ma'am', which is really rare in this society where students climb over their teachers' heads, and I am deeply impressed. What he has learnt this past year has never failed to impress me. 🙂 So congratulations once again!

In the fine tradition of the school…

Pg A4 of today’s Straits Times refers. The senior educationist featured Mr Goh Ek Piang is an Old Victorian who was an outstanding sportsman during his schooldays in the mid 1960s.
Aged 62, Mr Goh is retiring from the Education Service which he has served since the age 17 (after O level) and had held the posts of PE teacher, primary school principal and Dy Director for CCA in MOE. In his citation of Mr Goh at a ceremony yesterday honouring retiiring education officers, the Minister of Education described him as a "strong advocate of outdoor adventure education." Mr Goh has indeed done VS proud, continuing on the fine tradition of the school in producing outstanding educationists in the sports science, in particular Dr Low Wing Kee, former Director of Sports and Physical Educatiion at the prestigious Hong Kong University, and Dr Lau Teng Chuan, former CEO of Singapore Sports Council and Secretary General of the Singapore National Olympic Council. Incidentally both Dr Low and Dr Lau, now in their 80s were great all round sportsmen during their younger days.

I can assure all parents that VS really judge and nurture each boy by his character and not by his academic result!

DS has been given numerous opportunities to contribute to VS and he is just an average boy in his academic.

Each boy is encouraged to speak up and render their help to the school events whole heartedly.

I am sure the parents who had attended the orientation talk by Mr Low have heard that VS boys abide by the 4 rules of: Don’t Cheat, Don’t Lie, Don’t Steal & Don’t Bully!

For me his main emphasis is on character building (I attended 2 years ago) and he believes that the boys who come into VS already are at a certain level in their studies. But without good character, they are not able to shine even with fantastic results.
