      Hi Eagle-Ladybird,

My daughter is in P1 this year.
      My concerns are:
*whether she knows how to buy food (although I will be packing snacks for her)

*whether she knows how to eat properly and go loo before bell rings
*whether she will understand what her teachers teach
*whether she can go loo properly

Don’t know if my concerns are overboard but still it’s a big change from kindy to primary school.

        Hi janet,

Don’t think you’re overboard. Most parenst would, to varying degree. 8 out of 10 parents would have the same concerns, the other 2 are probably lying !

        That’s why I asked for ksi’s checklist! (though a little early 1 year ahead :!: )

I’m not too concerned over the academic stuff as primary 1 should be more fun than academic. It’s the non-academic that I’m a little concern.

Kids today grow up in a more "proctected" environment, than say our time. They are likely to be less street-smart (again, I could well be wrong here! but can’t help it), and probably more gullible.

With so much violence going on, parents will be paranoid letting their kids go out on their own. I can't let my 10+ son walk to school yet...cars speed in the morn and some drivers are still half-awake :x personally saw that for the past 3 mornings.
Told hubby not to send daughter to school so early...no matter what, she is only in P1 and not alert yet.

i dont understand why the parents need to pick up speed immediately after dropping their kids off in the school compound. a few near misses over the past few mornings because the drivers zoom zoom zoom once their kids got out.

            :x

Some drivers are still in dream land...if they are in dream land, perhaps they should drive slower or wake up earlier. OMG, what if it is rainy weather, won't these drivers will still be asleep ?
In a school compound, these drivers literally zoom off after the kids alight. :x

That sounds dangerous . . . maybe you should feed back to the school. I’m sure the school will take it seriously cos if any accidents were to happen, the school will be not spared.

What can I do ? It's not exactly in the school compound...just that the backgate is there and parents will alight their kids.
