      Hi All,

      Need help in the following:-

      madam mariam bought some minced chicken. she packed the meat equally into packets of 1/5kg each. If she packed the meat equally into packets of 1/7kg each, she will get 10 more packets of minced chicken. how many kilograms of minced chicken did she buy?

      Thanks,
      wkong
      Assume the number of kgs of minced chicken bought = u

      If you divide u kgs of chicken into 1/5kg packets, the number of packets = 5u
      If you divide u kgs of chicken into 1/7kg packets, the number of packets = 7u

      Then 7u = 5u +10 ----> 2u = 10 --> u =5

      So the number of kgs of minced chicken bought = 5kg

      HTH

        Hi

        Diff between the two pkts --> 1/5 - 1/7 = 2/35
        weight of extra 10 pkts --> 1/7 * 10 = 10/7
        No. of 1/5 kg bags --> 10/7 / 2/35 = 25
        Total weight --> 25 * 1/5kg = 5kg

          I need help for this maths question.

          Jose has 54 apples more than Mari. The number of apples Andy has is 5 times the total number of apples Jose and Mari have. Andy has 630 more apples than Mari. How many apples does Jose have?

          Thanks in advance.

            Hi,

            Pls assist below question. The answer given in the answer sheet is 16r but I feel a bit not right (hope I am wrong).

            "Leroy had only $9 and he needed to buy 85 magnets. His father gave him another $r. The magnets were sold in pack of 5 for $r. How much more money did he need to pay for all the 85 magnets ?"

            I need to explain to my son but I wonder what happen to the $9 if the answer is 16r.

            Thnks

              Hi

              Jose --> 1 unit + 54
              Nari --> 1 unit
              Andy --> (5 x 2units) + (54 x 5) = 10 units + 270

              Diff between Andy & Mari --> 9 units + 270
              9 units + 270 --> 630
              9 units --> 360
              1 unit --> 360 / 9 = 40

              Jose --> 40 + 54 = 94

                    Additional amt needed to buy all 85 magnets
                    = $(85/5 x r) - $(9 + r)
                    = $(17r - 9 - r)
                    = $(16r - 9)

                    Think the given answer is incorrect
