Comparing Chinese Enrichment (Primary/Preschool)

My son attended Yuquan class for 2 months at the fee of $58 per mth. Honestly, I find that he did not benefit at all from the course because it’s just simply going to the centre at Beach Road and do the worksheet in class. When my son doesn’t know how to answer some questions, he asked the teacher in the class, the teacher answered him that he has to do it himself. Worksheet will be marked at the end of the class and returned to the student. My conculsion is that I’m paying $58 for the 4 worksheet (4 sessions per month). I can buy assessment book from Popular and ask my son to do. Why do I still have to send him to YuQuan. Am I rite. In the end I decided to pull him up.

Yuquan is good for its idiom enrichment programmes. These are useful for preparing pre-schoolers and up to P2 students to be familiar with the sounds of the idioms in such a way that it becomes much easier for them to learn the actual meanings and usage of the idioms from P3 onwards. If you are looking for more academic and tuition-like enrichment programmes, go for Tsien Hsia or Molin. -
Hi. I managed to find a mandarin enrichment centre in katong mall which is willing to start a mandarin mom & tot class on weekday mornings if I can get a class of 3 together. This is for the 2-3 yr olds. I cannot really vouch for the quality of the class, but since I am still waiting on the JG playclub waiting list, I thought there’d be no harm starting over here if I can get 2 other tots to form the class. Hi! Does anyone has any experience with Xue Ni? Wonder how is the course material vs Berries ones? I called up and realised that they conduct the classes at CC and asked if they can start one at the CC near my place. Now, they explored and say possible since I have 3. However, to see the material, I have to travel to Jurong East where the centre is. The rest of the locations are at CC where no materials are available. I stay in Tampines. So anyone can advise on the materials and quality of teachers? Thanks in advance.

I'm a mother of 2 boys age 9 and 6 who were having tuition at Molin. Due to my elder son being a Hyperactive kid, he is not suitable for a group tution in a tuition centre. Because of this he did not benefit from tuition in Molin although alot of them praise Molin is good. I had withdraw him from Molin and engaged a home tutor (1-to-1) for him. Because this was a last min decision, I did not give the tuition centre 1 mth notice. I spoke to the counter staff, hoping she can help to talk to the principal to explain our situtation and also to tell the principal that we does not come from wealthy family, so the deposit to us is alot of money.
To-date, this case has been dragged for a few weeks. Each time when I call to find out the status, the counter staff always replied that she hasn't checked with the principal but she keep on stressing that I won't get back the deposit becos I did not give 1 mth's notice. But I told the counter staff to explain our financial situation and our reason for withdrawing. She ask me to call her back on Fri. Just call her , she is not working today. If she knows that she is not working today, she should have told me, why ask me to call her. :? Any way I not giving up, just hope the principal will agree to refund the deposit. :roll: -
I have a boy of 2.5 years (borned 2007) and I am interested to let him start on a Chinese enrichment program. My daughter used to go to Julia Gabriel edudrama, but I found it so-so. A couple of months ago, I called up Hua Language (at United Square) and they told me that they could start a class for 2-yr olds if there are perhaps 4 children to join the class. They will come up with the syllabus. In Hua, their typical program is for those who turn 3 this year, rather than 2. Are there any moms interested to form a class?
Unfortunately, most of the well-known centres are offering classes for N1 onwards, but I am keen to start my son as young as possible as I believe that at 2, this is the age when they pick up language the fastest. I am not aware of any other apart from JG that provides programs for 2 yr-olds. Any advice? -

I am also interested in Hua chinese prog for 2 yrs old. My son is also a 2007 baby and I too have been looking around for a chinese enrichment program. Let me know if they have managed to come up with something. However, I cant do sunday mornings.
