      Hi

Has anyone been to the lost world of tambun? Thinking of bringing my family there. We have been to sunway lagoon, so would like to try out another themepark. What else can we do/eat at Ipoh besides the themepark? And which hotel to stay at? Thanks in advance

      Regards
      Charlene

My wife and DS drove to KL and Ipoh in June this year. Lost World of Tambun is worth visiting. DS liked to petting zoo. There are many animals like rabbits, racoons, snakes, etc for the kids to feed and interact with. The water theme park was good too. The lazy river ride was long and relaxing while riding the tube. DS also liked the wave pool and slides. Need some time to get used to the hot water at the hot spring pool. As the park closes at 6pm, do go there early. We missed the boat ride around the park as it does not operate on that day (I think it was Tuesday)

I would suggest you explore the amusement park and petting zoo first (there are free train rides to bring you to different attractions). Then spend the last part of your visit relaxing at the water theme park. But do get out and clean up before 5.30pm to avoid the crowd before closing time.

Bring all your stuff you need to put in the locker as you can only enter the park once. Put your stuff in the locker (RM 10) which is reusable for the whole day. The locker is big enough for a haversack.

The lunch there was so-so. Don’t buy the pomelo outside the park as it would be more expensive there.

We stayed at Impiana Ipoh. There was a promotion of free Lost World tickets as we were there for 2 nights. Not sure if the promotion is still on or not.

Of course you have to try the hor fun and bean sprout chicken in Ipoh. The tim sum breakfast is so-so.

We visited the caves and pass by Kellie’s Castle to take some photos outside. If you want to do something different, visit the last remaining tin dredge south of Ipoh. Its huge.

By the way, I would recommend a short detour to Lata Kinjang on the way to Ipoh if you are driving. Its the waterfall which can be seen along the NS Highway. But be prepared drive some narrow roads and walk up a bit of steps to have a dip in the cool water pool. Better to have a change of clothes ready in case you get wet. There is a toilet at the base of the waterfall.

Actually, I spent 2 days in KL/Berjaya Hills before heading to Ipoh. I set off at about 6.30am and went by 2nd link. Was able to get to KL before 11.30am. Had our breakfast and teabreak along the NS Highway. As I was the only driver, I took rest during these breaks. Actually no problem as long as you have enough sleep the night before.

From KL to Ipoh, we left KL hotel at about 10am and drove up NS Highway. More scenic than southern section of NS Highway actually. Came out at Tapah toll and had lunch. Was at Lata Kinjang falls at about 2pm I think. Spent about an hour there. The roads leading to the falls are narrow and more bumpy but the traffic was light. From there, we used the small roads and visited the caves along the way to Ipoh. Was in Ipoh by 5pm.

My advice is not to rush it. Don’t plan too much things to do and just enjoy the drive. Have some snacks and water in the car in case you are hungry.

Its a great place to go especially if u are up there in KL for a few days.

Just went up in Jan this year, and as the weather was cold (due to earlier rain) the hot springs were NICE!

And best of all...it's NOT crowded!

              Worth the visit! 🙂

Any suggestions on things to do in KL. We are escaping the CNY festives this year by going to KL. Besides shopping and Sunway Lagoon, any other recommendations?

I think try going to the food blogs and check out their recommendations. U can then go on a food trail.

U can also go up to Genting, going for a massage and try out the shopping at 1 utama.

Other than that - that’s basically it for KL i think

I thought I would bring this thread back up again as someone was asking about Lost World of Tambun. Having been to both Lost World as well as Sunway Lagoon just last week, I would recommend Sunway Lagoon if the objective is just to have some good fun with the family for a day and shopping/food thrown in. Lost World is a bit far for Singaporeans if you want similiar type of entertainment.

Have not been to Bukit Gambang though. If anyone has been there, I would like to know how it is… But it is kind of far (near Kuantan).
