From the website, they only do P4 to P6. What about P3?

Any body tried science buddies. When I called them they seem to have impressed me with their method of teaching for PSLE Thought of going to the one at Marine Parade. Any comments or recommendation

the place, environment and teachers are great
located near kovan mrt, near punggol nasi lemak
the place is new and cosy, got a gd waiting area with bks, the classrm has lots of equipment (2 kids share 1 at most) for experiments.
the presentation is in ppt slides, and teacher will print all the slides for u to bring home - wf pics and colors.
the hmwk is online test wif pics. kids will enjoy it

the teacher is also very experienced and nice.

Sounds good. I pass by almost everyday and initially their website didn't work until recently. What is their fees like?

We currently have a teacher from their ex-enrichment centre that closed down coming in. Doing a small group within the house. Kids enjoyed his lessons very much and he is a school teacher.

$40 a lesson, so 160 a mth. that’s p3. i think their web shows the fee for other levels.

My children were attending Science Buddies at Parkway MP the whole of 2010 in their P3 an P4 classes. Their grades remain the same (70+) so I decided to pull them out . Initially I thought my children needed time to improve their grades but I was disheartened after 1 year.

Science Buddies has a complete curriculum and conducts experiments which the children enjoy. Their teachers although NIE trained, are young so they may not be so experienced. The teachers do not volunteer feedback on your kids progress or weakness. I feel that the teachers can only teach but unable to help if the child is generally weak in the subject. Every centre has a star* teacher but it seems the teacher only teaches P5/6 to boost the centre's image and overall results. This is probably true for most enrichment centres anyway.

Unlike Math, I find tuition centres often teaches a Science topic which is different from what my child is currently being taught in school. Although the same topic will eventually be covered, it does not seem to benefit the child in a timely manner since enrichment classes are supposed to enhance the topic taught in school and prepare them for their CAs/SAs. Does anyone have the same experience?

I am thinking hard about getting a home tutor. Does anyone have a contact for a good Science teacher?

try tinkerlab at kovan. there is only a female science teacher and her hubby teaching. my girl only there for a mth but the teacher is experienced enuf to address my queries and gave me good feedback and she also does teacher training in schools. the environment is cosy and clean. being a new centre, very small in class size - like 1 to 2 that type. so its gd for weak students i believe.

they hv equipment to do lab test. my girl just saw what mushrm spores look like under a microscope yesterday.
the topics they taught are exam focused and same timing as sch syllabus.

                      do explore. tinkerlab.com.sg
