I only managed to talk to the staff at the admin office, not the principal. The staff did not know how many parents completed the 40 hours. That's why I am trying to find out from other parents who may have managed to speak with the principal
Tamarind, WG refused to tell u how many PVs who completed 40hrs and thus eligible for 2B? Last yr, my dd's school gave us a list of all parents who completed 40 hrs so we were able to gauge our chances. Still, we were anxious as we never know how many grassroots leaders will turn up to vie with us.

What about the PVG committee? They should have a chairperson or what rite? Btw how far do u stay from WG? -

I read in this forum that if selected by Rulang to PV, then the kid is more or less guaranteed a space. Because Rulang does not take in more PVs than they have spaces for.
Hi tamarind, Rulang doesn't guarantee even after 40 hours PV but they have a strict PV selection process. Meaning they limit the number of PV they accept. This year's stat I heard that the final count was 257 PV APPLICANTS, all will be interviewed and finally only 40 - 50 PVs selected.
I guess you could say that the chances for these 40 - 50 selected PVs are higher than if they would just allow all 257 PVs to volunteer and ballot during Phase 2B.
As for how many spaces and whether all PV will get a place, they can't and will not commit as the # from Community Leaders is unknown... (that's what the school staff kept repeating..)

You may ask the school how many PV’s WGPS had accepted last year? Assuming all had completed PV would turn up during enrollment.

From there, you can estimate yr chance to enter in Phase 2B or Phase 2C.
I guess most of the parent that did PV had done enough research where do as PV would have high chance being accepted in Phase 2B. Unless that is a school affiliated with church, clans & together from PV & Grassroot leaders then would really depend on luck. -
Actually quite a number of parents who get accepted as PVs change their minds halfway. For my dd’s school last year, they accepted close to 80 PVs but finally only 60+ completed the 40 hrs.

a few reasons may be... they don't like what they see, decide to drop this school and continue to PV on another, unable to clock 40hrs due to work commitment, other unforseen circumstances...
I hope there aren't any cases whereby too many PV not enough work to go around.. -
Dear all,
Thanks for the replies. I live within 1 km of West Grove, I just hope that my efforts are not wasted. -

Tamarind, dont worry so much. Phase 2B+1km is the best that you could have done liao. And since WG didnt ballot under 2B for the last 3 yrs, my guess is that should there be balloting this year, it would most probably be done for those staying 1-2km or out of 2km. U should be quite safe since u stay within 1km.
I rem NHPS which did not have balloting for 2B from 2004 - 2007. Somehow there was a surge in applicants last year and eventually balloting was done for those staying out of 2km. -
hi all … the days are getting closer and I am getting worried… when i went to can.com.sg to measure distance from Floravale to West Grove, it showed me 0.65 km…now its showing 1.12km. help help
