Hi, I am interested in OLQP. Are you quite sure that they balloted for those out of 2km? Where did you get the info from? I would be very happy if my girl can get in as the rest that I am interested in seem impossible. Like you said,I will call them on Monday.
Among all CHIJ schools, only CHIJ Katong and CHIJ OLQP conducted balloting for those out of 2km last year for phase 2C. The rest balloted either within 1km or 1-2km. If u want to know the exact number of applicants out of 2km vs places, u have to call up the school to ask as MOE doesnt publish this info. It only publishes total applicants without distance breakdown info. -

Little_Princesses_LnK, you can find KiasuParents.com's Historical Primary School Registration exercise statistics from this http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/content/singapore-primary-1-registration-school-balloting-history. -

I would like to send my daughter to CHIJ (TP) as well. Called the school yesterday and was told that for Phase 2B beyond 2km, it is like 15 applicants vs 1 vacancy. Now I have to consider CHIJ (Katong). I really hope it is good.
would anyone know if it is really necessary for the parents to provide their baptism certificate in addition to the child's baptism certificate when registering for Phase 2b? I was told earlier this year when i went to the school (CHIJ TP) that all that was required was the child's Baptism Cert. Now I have a problem looking for my baptism cert..

Hi YJJ Thanks for your comments. I was considering to put my girl at CHIJ (OLGC) at Sgoon Garden under 2B. However after reading your comments, I am seriously thinking of changing to CHIJ OLN. Under phase 2B we are eligble for both schools and both are convieniently located. Do you have any idea abt CHIJ OLGC?
My girl is in P1 in CHIJ OLN this year. So far so good. Very proactive principal who gives quick detailed updates, all school activities planned to the utmost details (even sandwich and drinks for parents during orientation prep before school start as it started early at 830 if I remember correctly), caring teachers. The whole school runs like a well oiled-machine with well trained and prepared prefects, parent volunteers and teachers.
There is homework and spelling for P1 (Eng and MT), also quizzes based on subject and for each team (all graded and count towards year end results) which may be more work than some primary schools. Lots of planned short term (8-12 weeks) school activities for those who do not have already have a packed program (Speech & drama, Language, Math, Drawing etc) after school by independent contractors.
As for HP vs CHIJ OLN, please take into consideration the logistics plus travel time to and fro school, especially when they are most likely to have after-school activities as they grow older. Check also whether there are any school buses from Hougang to Henry Park, what's the cost, what is pick up and drop off time. If you plan on driving, Hougang to Henry Park via KPE at 6+ takes about 25-35min one way.
You will have to be able to work with the logistics for at least 7 years assuming your 2 girls are 1 year apart, more if wider age gap... unless you plan to move closer to HP...
Hope this helps. -

Crystal Palace, HP is a good school but too far. If I was in your place would stick to CHIJ or else shift home closer to HP.Hi
I am also \"a lazy mother, do not want to stress myself and my gals on the academic area - just wanna them to be happy and be confidence of themselves.\" But I dun wanna my girl to lose out toooo much....heheh...
I live near CHIJ (OLN) and i am an old gal of Henry Park which is very far from my place.
Anybody can advise should I enrol my girl in CHIJ(OLN) or travel the distance and opt for Henry Park instead?
Really appreciate any comments....been thinking about this dilemma ever since my girl was 3+ yrs old...
Thanks! -
