NS is also a transformation process to develop our boys into men. Whatever that is taking place, our boys will be strengthen. We can never fully understand the situation unless we are partakers ourselves.
I always explain to our foreign talents the contributions of our boys in SAF/SCDF/POLICE without which thats nothing to talk about our careers, home or lifestyles. -

The back view of the 'subject' seems to suggest that he's a tall & fit young man wherelse the maid is rather petite judging by the way the bag overshadows her.
Actually everyday when I go pick up ds from his sch, I see similar things. I'll usually see this big boy (must be P2 judging from his size) walking hands-free while his petite grandma lugs behind carrying his school bag. Think she suffers from a slight hunch too. :roll:
But one of the main talking pt should be how much damage do you think that photo does to our Army reputation, hehe? :lol:

Why don't we just employ foreign talent to be our army then? Carry bag, carry gun, do PT, do live firing... -

yes! saw this post and i was thinking..finally got a chance to write what i wanted to want!
to all KSP parents out here, whether you have DS or DD, i really feel our generation of parenting has been \"pampering\" / slaves to our kids & hence they will be too sheltered! Is time to re-think the way we bring up our kids...
I told my maid never to carry bag for my DS cause I do not want my boy to be so spoilt. The bag is usually not heavy, all i need is my maid to bring my son safely to school. I also told my boy to return his cup, plate & bowl to the basin by himself after he finish, never put in on the table and expect maid to clear it up, etc
The picture of the NS walking and his maid carrying his bag really disgust me. But this is what happened when we pamper and serve out kids too much.
I know alot of parents nowadays only have one or two precious kids, hence the pampering. But is this the way we want to bring up our kids, to be \"weak\" and dependent on people until they finish their education or even when they enter work force? I want to laugh at a remark recently, one of my gf's mum commented to her relatives that her kids never give her monthly money...the daughter heard it and reply to the mother, \"you are lucky that I did not ask you for any money already\"
I know times are getting tougher and more expensive for our kids but seriously by pampering them so much till to this extend in NS, 18 or 19 yrs old, still rely on maid to carry bag, we are really weakening the weak, they will not grow stronger until they have the chance to do so...
so parents, esp those with maids...try to let our kids do more things by themselves instead of relying on the maids, for eg; tidying up their bed when they wake up (talking abt kids who have start Primary), not carrying their bags for them when they are walking to school and maybe by P4, should let them go to school by themselves if they are not taking sch buses. -

I feel especially sad on the posting from jessicawongcs.
SAF is a sacred instituition which is extremely vital for the survival of our nation. All servicemen/women whether regulars, NS or NSF are on standby 24/7 and must be prepared to lay their lifes in service of our nation as enstrined in our constituition. Every service personnel must take an oath pledging allegiance to our nation.
To take the opportunity to coerce others in making fun of SAF personnel in a pubic forum like here is rather unbecoming of a responsible citizen/PR/FT. Even if you do not appreciate the contributions from our servicemen/women, on this occassion, i have to educate you that is because of a strong SAF that we can have peace and security to bring up the next generation, our careers, homes and lifestyles. Without a reliable SAF, there's completely no future for Singapore.
There's a limit to jokes and i see as breaching of ethics by taking portshots of service personnel in a sacred instituition in this instance. -
I suppose end of the day the NS guy and the maid should not be blame.. The parents should be blame.. In Singapore its such a common sight.. Having maid carrying bags for kids.. feed kids.. pick up things when kids drop it.. Some parents pamper their kids so much that by the time their kids turn P1, teachers are still expected to clean their ass after biz..
Perhaps some parents should try to let their kids do their own stuff themselves instead of depending so much on the maid.. Guess to this NS boy its juz common that his maid carries his bag.. Afterall after book out or gg to book in NS life is tiring enough to endure awhile more to have his bag carried to his destination.
End of the day some parents should review if they had overly pampered on their kids and overly depended on maid. Sometimes we need to let go to let our kids grow up.. :love:
