      Hi,

      Can anyone help me with the following P5 Maths questions. Thanks in advance.

      Q1. At a concert, the number of men is 4/7 of the number of women. There are 440 adults altogether. How many women are there at the concert?

      Q2. The number of children spectators at the Judo competition is 4/5 of the number of adults. There are 120 more adults than children. The number of boys is 4 times the number of girls. What is the total number of boys watching the competition?

      Q3. 1/2 of Joshua’s savings is equal to 4/5 of Megan’s savings. The difference between their savings is $15. What is Megan’s total savings?

      Q4. The number of men at a gathing was 3/5 that of women and children. The number of children was 1/3 that of men. If there were 15 children present, how many women were at the gathering?

        [] represents squares/rectangles in model.

        Alignment is slightly off.

        Q1. At a concert, the number of men is 4/7 of the number of women. There are 440 adults altogether. How many women are there at the concert?

        M [][][][]
        W [][][][][][][]

        11U->440
        7U->280

        Ans: There are 280 women.

        Q2. The number of children spectators at the Judo competition is 4/5 of the number of adults. There are 120 more adults than children. The number of boys is 4 times the number of girls. What is the total number of boys watching the competition?

        C [][][][]
        A [][][][][]

        1U->120
        There are 480 children.

        4/5*480=384

        Ans: There are 384 boys.

        Q3. 1/2 of Joshua's savings is equal to 4/5 of Megan's savings. The difference between their savings is $15. What is Megan's total savings?

        J [........][........]
        M [][][][][]

        This means Joshua's savings is 8u
        Difference in savings : 8u-5u=3u

        3u->$15
        5u->$25

        Megan's total savings : $25

        Q4. The number of men at a gathing was 3/5 that of women and children. The number of children was 1/3 that of men. If there were 15 children present, how many women were at the gathering?

        M [][][]
        W+C [][][][][]
        -->
        C []
        W [][][][]

        U->15
        4U->60

        Ans: There were 60 women.

        check :
        Children : 15
        Women : 60
        total 75

        3/5 of 75=45
        hence Men : 45

        1/3 of 45 = 15 = number of children, ok

          Hi,

          Need help for the following:

          Lily is meeting a friend at a certain time. If she drives at 80km/h, she will be 1/3hr late. If she drives at 60km/h, she will be 3/4hr late. How long will the journey take if she travelled at 90km/h?

          Thanks,
          wkong

            Hi ,

            Speed = Distance / Time taken

            Time taken to complete the journey at 80 km/h : Time taken to complete
            the journey at 60 km/h
            = 60 : 80 = 3 : 4

            Difference in time taken = 3/4 h - 1/3 h
            (4 - 3 ) unit = 9/12 h - 4/12 h
            1 unit = 5/12 h

            Time taken to complete the journey at 80 km/h = 3 units = 3 * 5/12 = 5/4 h

            Distance between the journey = 5/4 * 80 = 100 km

            Time taken to complete the journey at 90 km/h = 100 / 90 = 10/9 h = 1 1/9 h (Ans)

                        2 min 30 s = 150 s

                        Total distance travelled by the train = 20 * 150 = 3000 m

                        Length of tunnel = 3000 - 200 = 2800 m = 2.8 km (Ans)
