I came across this centre at the Kids Academy Camp at Suntec. Never heard of them before. I spoke with one of the staff and learnt that they were considered new, came to Singapore last year, origin from Malaysia.

Their video sharing at the exhibition is impressive... kids able to sense surrounding even when blind-folded. Amazing...

Anyone has any feedback to share please?

go to http://www.geniusmindacademy.com.sg/referredby.aspx?ae=brian.pang@geniusmindacademy.com.sg and see the testimonials from parents.

I am very wary of such claims. Still see when blind folded? What are our eyes for then?

:? Any credibility in the first few posts?

as with all things on the internet, read with a critical mind. Never believe information from a single source. On the internet, both views will be present. The marketing view, propagated by the product company, and spread through clever internet marketing techniques and the negative view.

At the end of the day, you have to judge which view is more logical, more plausible. Critical questioning is good ie. if this works, why don't they market it to the blind community, they will have a ready market. Money is not an issue, people are willing to donate money for a good cause. Besides, a blind child who learned to \"see\" will generate a lot of publicity for the product.

On the internet, you can't really trust people's identities. A male can be a female, a child can be an adult, a testimonial can be a marketing blurb, etc...

Rome was not built in a day. Brains cannot be changed in 2 days, especially if the majority of the time was spent watching TV cartoons and sleeping.
        You be the judge.

Of course, there is the placebo effect. After spending a large sum of money, you'll want to believe that your child has turned into a genius, cos' the alternative would have been too painful to accept.

Unfortunately, there are still gullible people around. This blindfold reading/seeing or whatever you named it appeared at the recent Kidz Academy exhibition. And mind, these \"sales agents\" are \"aggressive\" They should make their sales pitch to the visually impaired first and then prove it! Only then, Buy!

Guess such centres will always have some amount of business, as they prey on anxious parents, who may be keen to consider all sorts of options regardless of whether it sounds plausible at all, and in some cases when you have another \"parent\" recommending that it works cos their kid became smarter as a result of the training, there will then naturally be interested parties who may wish to reverse / enhance what nature has given their child! Imagine a program that can make one smarter??!!

            Hi All

Both my children went through the activation program last June. Both have improve memory and attitude. Their academy results improve so much that now both have a lot of confidence to achieve better results.

But please note. The official one is the one at Mountbatten knows at GMA.

The one teach to pit if I am not wrong should be at another place. So be very careful where you send to. GMA has maintainence program.

Should you require more information please feel free to write to me at shirtsl@singnet.com.sg.

            Cheers

Caught the tail end of an interview on 938live.

GMA (http://www.geniusmindacademy.com.sg/) has this 2 day workshop to activate the midbrain of your child. Now we know there's a left brain and a right brain. Left brain is more for logic, numbers, etc while right brain is for emotion, artistic, creativity, etc.

In the interview, they claim that by activating the midbrain, a \"bridge\" will be created so that the child can tap on both side of the brain, thereby creating a more-balanced person with high IQ as well as EQ.
One example quoted was a boy who went from failing Chinese in P5 to scoring A* in PSLE, without changing any other routine or extra tuition...only the brain activation.

Anyone heard of this before? Anyone's child went through the workshop?

that is absolutely bs. If someone told you Harry Potter is actually based on a true story and that there is actually a Ministry of Magic, you would have believed. The main reason why a child fails language is mainly because of disinterest. If a child is interested in something, trust me, there is no reason why the child would not have passed the subject.

In a lot of our daily activities, we use both the right brain and left brain together. To have someone tell you that since you were born, you have never used both brains together is total hogwash. Have you used both arms together, both eyes together, both legs together ? why is it that your brain is an exception ?

To attend this course so that you learn to use both brains together and that this is an ability that needs to be .......er.. I don't know what word to use here because they don't even teach you how to do that, it's just listening to music and watching TV for 2 days, that all of a sudden, \"magically\" links right brain to left brain.

Don't believe in magic, don't believe in short cuts to academic excellence. There are no short cuts, just lots of hard work. This 2 day course will set you back by $1500. Use the money to go on a holiday.

You need to understand how the brain works. There are synapes, links between brain cells. The more linkages, the more intelligent you are, because you have more access to information. It's just like networking with people. The more links you have with people, the more opportunities you will get to know and the more likely you will succeed in business. For people with high IQ, the synapes were formed very early in life, and they were formed very easily, for the rest of use, we have to build them with some effort. Yes, the synapes can be built through learning and an effort to understand new concepts. Synapes are not built in a day, they require time and effort to build.

The left brain and right brain do work together for all us in our daily lives. In a lot of our activities, there is no strict rule to say only use the logical aspect or the creative aspect of our brains. Our brain is not like a computer, to turn a portion of it on and off whenever we want to. All parts of our brain work together to accomplish our daily tasks. If you have an interest in brain training, I would recommend that you check out cognitive training. At least, they advocate putting in a fair effort to train the brain. That effort will create additional synapes.

The internet is full of fake testimonials. There is a business reason for this. There is a commission given for every sale made by anyone who can pull in a client. Approach information with an inquiring mind.

I strongly resent the statement you made above.

What are you taking me for? A moron? That I can't tell the difference between fiction and reality?

If I don't have doubts about them, I would have jumped in and signed my kids up for the program! But being the first time hearing of GMA, I publicly seeked clarification and further information instead. That doesn't give you the rights to insult me!

                    :torchme:

My son was mid-brain activated & he continues to amaze me with his developments. We started doing 12 card memory game with 2 colors & has progressed to 26 cards with 98-100 % right. The card is removed once it is opened. I believe in it coz I see & experience it myself and so do the rest of the parents who have sent their children for the program. The choice is yours to choose.

Interesting. A timely reminder that a lot of these biz out there are out to prey on gullible and eager parents in this paper chase society.
